Abstract
The invention relates to chromatographic fractionation of pectin-containing vegetable material, such as sugar beet pulp. In the method of the invention, a pectin-containing hydrolysate is chromatographically separated into a pectin fraction, a salt fraction and a sugar fraction. The method is carried out by using a cation exchange resin, which is preferably in the form of a multivalent metal.
