Abstract
A flight display for use in an avionics system has a visual display format to show an enhanced vertical situation of an aircraft. Included is a vertical terrain profile display that displays terrain in front of the aircraft over a selected range and a selected swathe width. The vertical terrain profile display shows a side-on terrain profile view with a digital display of the selected swathe width and a display of range in front of the aircraft. A plan view of the aircraft position is included that shows swathe lines on either side of an aircraft to show the selected swathe width. A means for selecting the swathe width by the pilot is provided. The flight display the vertical terrain profile display may be changed into a end-on vertical terrain profile view over the selected swathe width. The end-on terrain profile view has a digital display of the selected range and a digital display of the selected swathe width on each side of the aircraft.

6867711 - Cockpit instrument panel systems and methods with variable perspective flight display - Owned by Garmin International, Inc. (Olathe, KS)

Systems and methods are provided for integrated control, access, and customizable presentation of navigation related, flight information data on a multifunction display (MFD) within a cockpit. The MFD includes a bezel having controls located thereon which are adapted for controlling display formats, communication devices, navigational devices, and equipment sensors. A display is located adjacent to the bezel. The display is adapted to include at least one display region having navigation related data. At least one of the controls is operable to variably select a display format for the at least one display region.

6934608 - Integrated vertical situation display - Owned by Honeywell International Inc. (Morristown, NJ)

Methods and apparatus are provided for generating an integrated vertical situation display. The method comprises generating a profile view frame, producing a first profile view of a first track of the vehicle in the profile view frame beginning at about a current position of the vehicle and ending at about a predetermined location, and extending a second profile view of a second track of the vehicle from about the predetermined location. The apparatus comprises a display configured to display a profile view frame and a specially configured processor coupled to the display. The processor is configured to produce a first profile view relating to a first track of the vehicle beginning at about a current position of the vehicle and ending at a predetermined location, and generate a second profile view relating to a second track of the vehicle extending from about the predetermined location.

7219011 - Vertical deviation indication and prediction system - Owned by Rockwell Collins, Inc. (Cedar Rapids, IA)

A vertical deviation indicator and predictor includes a vertical deviation scale having a plurality of vertically spaced markers, one of the markers indicating the vehicle's present vertical position. Current vertical flight path segment symbols are selectively superimposable over the vertical deviation scale in accordance with the vehicle's current vertical flight path segment. Next vertical flight path segment symbols are selectively superimposable over the vertical deviation scale in accordance with the vehicle's next vertical flight path segment, the position thereof being determined by backward extrapolation of the next vertical flight path segment. Thus, the type and position of the current and next vertical flight path segment symbols on the vertical deviation scale provide situational awareness of the present vertical flight path deviation and an indication of an efficient and timely manner for intercepting the desired flight path.

7509810 - Inter-turbine temperature display compensation method - Owned by Honeywell International Inc. (Morristown, NJ)

Control logic, and a method implemented by the control logic, compensates for mismatched inter turbine temperatures between two gas turbine engines and displays a biased inter turbine temperature (ITT) reading to the pilot without jeopardizing the need to be properly informed of the health of all engines and the relationship engine temperature compared to the maximum allowed temperature. A temperature compensation value is added to the lower inter turbine temperature to thereby increase the ITT to a value that is substantially equal to the higher ITT value. As a result, any potential nuisance or distraction that the flight crew may experience from displaying the mismatch is eliminated.
