A personal care product is provided which includes a composition a quaternary ammonium salt wherein a cation of the salt is a dihydroxypropyltri(C.sub.1 C.sub.3 alkyl)ammonium monosubstituted polyol in a carrier. The cation should have a molecular weight no higher than about 450 and the salt have a T.sub.g no higher than about 10.degree. C. Particularly preferred are hydroxypropyltrimonium sorbitol salts. These salts operate as humectants to moisturize both in high and low relative humidity environments.
A personal care composition is provided formulated with glycerin and a moisturization enhancing agent which is a salt of structure AB, wherein A is a cationic charged component, B is an anionic charged component, and A has at least one quaternized nitrogen atom and at least two hydroxyl groups and a molecular weight no higher than about 400.
