Abstract
A method of repairing a leak at a branch pipe location in a manner that it is not necessary to drain the water or the liquid from the main pipe at which the repair is being made. The end of the existing branch pipe is removed from a connector at the main pipe, and a temporary plug with an elongate handle is used to branch the connector opening. With the opening remaining closed, an intermediate connector is placed over the elongate handle and welded to the connector, after which the plug member is taken from the opening and a permanent plug put in the upper end of the intermediate connector.

7082960 - Pipe tapping apparatus - Owned by Kim; Young Sik (Gwengju,KR) M.T. Deason Company, Inc. (Birmingham, AL)

The present invention provides a pipe tapping apparatus to couple new pipes to an existing pipe. The pipe tapping apparatus includes a base pipe, having a saddle-shaped socket part to be in close contact with the main pipe to pass a fluid therein; and a bending part coupled to the saddle-shaped socket part. The pipe tapping apparatus further includes a coupling pipe to be coupled to the sub-pipe extending to a predetermined place in which the supplied fluid is used, with a ball valve provided in the coupling pipe to control the flow of fluid passing through the coupling pipe. The pipe tapping apparatus further includes an electric heat-welding pipe to couple the coupling pipe to the base pipe. The electric heat-welding pipe has a first heating wire which is provided in the electric heat-welding pipe to weld the electric heat-welding pipe to the base pipe, and a second heating wire which is provided in the electric heat-welding pipe to integrate the coupling pipe with the electric heat-welding pipe. The pipe tapping apparatus further includes a first positioning unit which is removably coupled to an end of the coupling pipe, with a first through hole provided in the center of the first positioning unit, thus guiding a process of tapping the main pipe using the cutting drill passing through the first through hole of the first positioning unit.

7007719 - Pipe repair tool

The present invention provides a pipe tool for repairing a damaged section of a pipeline. The repair tool comprises a main body having a top surface and a bottom surface. A compressible alignment portion is positioned above the main body. A compression plate is positioned above the alignment portion. An elongate rod extends through the center of the main body, the alignment portion and the compression plate. A fastener is secured to the top end of the compression rod and a rotatable fastener is secured to the bottom end of the rod. The repair tool is inserted into an open end of a cut pipe so that the top surface of the main body aligns with the open end of the pipe. The alignment portion is then compressed by rotating the rotatable fastener to secure the pipe repair tool inside of the cut pipe.
