A time adjustment assembly for a timepiece comprises a fast hour wheel that is movable between a first position where it is not rotationally engageable with the hour wheel and a second position where it is rotationally engageable with the hour wheel; a corrector wheel, mounted on the setting stem, for rotating the fast hour wheel; and a setting spring selectively engageable with the fast hour wheel to move the fast hour wheel between the fast hour wheel's first position and second position; wherein when the fast hour wheel is in rotational engagement with the hour wheel the setting stem is out of engagement with the setting wheel and an hour hand is movable independently of the minute hand via the rotation of the setting stem.
This application is a continuation-in-part of U.S. application Ser. No. 10/334,025, now pending, and claims priority to and the benefit of the filing date thereof.
A timepiece movement is disclosed in which a hand-setting stem is oriented in the longitudinal direction of the movement and that includes a relatively short portion inside the movement. A pull-out piece may be mounted pivotably on the frame of the movement and carry a pivoting member, interacting with the frame, and also a linking member designed to interact with the stem to limit the translational movement of the stem. The pivoting member, preferably produced in the form of a pull-out screw, may include first and second pivots arranged on either side of the pull-out piece and engaged in the frame. Preferably, the stem may be engaged, permanently catching, with a crown pinion to form an assembly that may also include first and second pivots arranged on either side of the crown pinion and engaged in the frame.
In order to position a clutch plate 20 in a first angular position, in which teeth 2a of a second gear 2 mesh with a pinion 3b of a third gear 3, an abutment 21 and a projection 12 are provided on the clutch plate 20 and a main plate 10, respectively. An abutment surface 21A that is substantially perpendicular to a straight line .alpha. connecting between centers of rotation of the gears 2, 3 is provided on abutment 21. The abutment surface 21A restricts displacement in a direction, in which a distance between the centers of rotation of the gears 2, 3 is decreased, to prevent deformation of the clutch plate 20, which leads to deep meshing of the gears 2, 3, and rotating drive resistance of the gears 2, 3 is maintained small to prevent an increase in loss of mechanical energy and prevents unwanted stoppage of the timepiece 1.
