An electrical machine with a stator component and a rotor component, wherein the stator component carries the winding of the electrical machine, which has a number of coils. An electronic power unit is provided to control the electrical machine. To obtain an electrical machine, which has a long service life but does not occupy much space, the stator component has two or more separate windings to form two or more electrical sub-machines. The electrical machine can be used to advantage as a starter-generator in commercial vehicles and busses. An improved electrical system is also described.
A concentrated winding stator coil of a proximal end extraction type two-layer winding arrangement includes numerous tooth coils which are connected in series to arrange serial coil units and also connected in parallel as pairs arranging respective phase windings. Plural inter-coil bus bars are provided to connect the tooth coils of the serial coil units. Plural terminal bus bars extend from both ends of the serial coil units to connect respective serial coil units in parallel with each other. These bus bars are disposed adjacently to an end face of a core back.
A vehicle including a principal power unit that includes a generator coupled to a prime mover. The generator includes at least first and second sets of windings to generate power. The first set of windings is configured to generate power at a first voltage and the second set of windings is configured to generate power at a second voltage that is different from the first voltage.
