A device readable medium for use in controlling a laser vision correction system includes a storage structure having stored therein a pre-programmed first, readable, corrective instruction reference that corresponds to an encoded customized corrective instruction determined by a calculation module external to the medium. The encoded customized corrective instruction is executable by a laser vision correction laser platform for correction of a refractive defect when the corrective instruction reference is properly recognized. A laser vision correction system including the device readable medium is described. A remunerative model relating to the device readable medium is disclosed.
Devices, systems, and methods for developing prescriptions for and/or treating presbyopia may use a combination of an alteration to the refractive tissues of the eye with changes in the response of the visual system. The visual system response may include using residual accommodation in a manner similar to that employed by latent hyperopes, a trained response of the pupil, trained psychophysics, or the like. Associated refractive prescriptions may be tailored to take advantage of the subsequent visual system response so as to mitigate presbyopia.
A method for optimizing a prescription for laser-ablation corneal treatment achieves the modification of wavefront-based refractive correction data with the use of user/doctor-input nomograms. Data comprising a wavefront description of a patient eye are received and displayed to a user, who can then make modifications to these treatment data. A modification is calculated based upon the desired correction to yield corrected wavefront description data, which are displayed to the user. A system includes a processor and a device for transmitting a wavefront description of a patient eye to the processor. An input device is adapted to receive a desired correction to the wavefront description data. Software is resident on the processor having code segments for implementing the calculations as described.
