Abstract
A pool cover drain substantially completely drains collected rainwater without use of pumps or electrical hookups. The pool cover drain is non-centrally located in a pool cover. It is attached to a flexible hose that directs the water to a swimming pool sidewall drain outlet. A sealed weighted tubular element creates a conical depression in said swimming pool cover. The sealed weighted tubular element is placed atop the pool cover in close proximity to said pool cover drain. Collected rainwater is directed along the outside walls of the weighted tubular element, and into the pool cover drain. Sand weights on an end of the sealed weighted tubular element proximate the pool cover drain facility a gravity feed of collected rainwater into the pool cover drain. The sealed weighted tubular element is optionally provided with right-angled projections to prevent rolling and displacement thereof during high velocity wind gusts. A filter in the pool cover drain prevents clogging by debris and the like.

6954948 - Swimming pool cover having built-in drain pump

An accessory for a swimming pool includes pool cover means having a top surface, a bottom surface and a peripheral edge wherein the pool cover means is dimensioned to completely span and extend beyond all edges of the swimming pool; motorized water pump means having a pump input with a first hose connection and a pump output with a second hose connection adapted to threadably connect to a garden-type hose; a flexible hose portion having a hose inlet and a hose outlet wherein the hose outlet is connected to the first hose connection of the pump input; and drain cover means secured to the top surface of the pool cover means wherein the drain cover means establishes a location of the pump means on the top surface of the pool cover means such that the second hose connection of the pump output is operatively spaced in close proximity to an edge of the swimming pool, protects the pump means from the elements, and operatively locates the hose portion such that the hose inlet is spaced near the center of the swimming pool when the pool cover means is in use.

6978493 - Pool cover drain

A pool cover drain substantially completely drains collected rainwater without use of pumps or electrical hookups. The pool cover drain is non-centrally located in a pool cover. It is attached to a flexible hose that directs the water to a swimming pool sidewall drain outlet. A weighted tubular element creates a conical depression in said swimming pool cover. The weighted tubular element is placed atop the pool cover in close proximity to said pool cover drain. Collected rainwater is directed along the outside and, optionally, the inside walls of the weighted tubular element, and into the pool cover drain. Angled weighted projections are located on an end of the weighted tubular element proximate the pool cover drain to facilitate gravity feed of collected rainwater into the pool cover drain. These angled weighted projections are weighted by filling the projection tube with sand, or optionally without sand by slotting the projection tube and allowing rainwater to collect therein and act as a weight. The weighted tubular element is provided with T type projections opposite to the angled weighted projections to prevent rolling and displacement of the weighted tubular element during high velocity wind gusts. A filter in the pool cover drain prevents clogging by debris and the like.
