A pair of a skater foot supports are joined with a skating motion director including, a simple crank interconnected with the foot supports by a pivotal linkage, such that as the crank rotates in a circle, one of the foot supports is pulled and the other pushed during a first one-half of the circle rotation, while, the reverse occurs during the second one-half of the circle rotation. The crank is rotationally engaged with a flywheel through a mechanical drive train, enabling the flywheel to rotate at a speed greater than that of the crank whereby the foot supports move with a skating motion for exercising a skater.
An improved apparatus to enable a user to simulate skating, hereafter referred to as a skating machine, wherein the improvement involves the incorporation of a tension means connected at one end to the location of the intersection of a pedal connector bar and a crank to prevent the skating machine from locking or freezing when the pedals are at their most sideways positions. The crank is connected at its opposite end to a resistance means and the pedal connector bar is connected at its opposite end to a portion of a pedal assembly. The tension means is connected at its opposite end to a location on the skating machine frame. The crank and pedal connector bar are aligned in an almost horizontal 180 degree position when the pedals are at their extreme left or right position and the tension means prevents the machine from locking in this position.
A lateral motion exercising apparatus provides a pair of vertically oriented axles engaged with a frame. A pair of support struts are rotationally engaged with the axles. A rigid link is pivotally joined at its terminal ends with the support struts in a manner for maintaining the support struts in parallel alignment as they rotate about the axles. A pair of platform struts is engaged pivotally at proximal ends of the support struts, the pivots enabling each of the platform struts to rotate vertically about its distal end. The proximal ends of the platform struts are constrained to move in opposing vertical motions in coordination with rotations of the support struts to produce a skating-like motion to a user standing on the platform struts.
Gymnastic machine (1) for simulating the skating movement provided with a frame (10) carrying a load unit (20), with an exercise station (30) for performing a training exercise, and with a first functional group (31) and a second functional group: the first group (31) being mechanically connected to the load unit (20) in order to exchange mechanical energy with this latter; the first group (31) comprising at least a footrest (33) carried in a rotatable manner and in open chain by the frame (10); the second functional group (60) comprising at least a third lever (61); transmission means (70) being positioned between the first and second functional groups (31)(60) in order to connect each third lever (61) to a respective footrest (33) for performing a training exercise for training the upper limbs in combination with a simulation of the skating movement.
The present invention relates to a standup exercise apparatus that simulates downhill skiing with arm exercise. More particularly, the present invention relates to an exercise machine having separately supported pedals for the feet and arm exercise coordinated with the motion of the feet. Each pedal follows an separate elongate curve with lateral movement. As one pedal moves downward on the inside portion of one pedal curve, the other pedal moves sideways upward following the outer portion of the other pedal curve. A pair of cranks rotate in opposite directions when driven by the pedal movement. The orientation of the pedal curves is adjustable to exercise leg muscles differently. Arm exercise is coordinated with the foot pedal movements.
