A system and methods for implementing education online by providing institutions with the means for allowing the creation of courses to be taken by students online, the courses including assignments, announcements, course materials, chat and whiteboard facilities, and the like, all of which are available to the students over a network such as the Internet. Various levels of functionality are provided through a three-tiered licensing program that suits the needs of the institution offering the program. In addition, an open platform system is provided such that anyone with access to the Internet can create, manage, and offer a course to anyone else with access to the Internet without the need for an affiliation with an institution, thus enabling the virtual classroom to extend worldwide.

Enabling an organization to control user assignments and assessment results while enabling a proprietary provider to maintain control over both network distribution of proprietary content comprising the assignments and use of proprietary assessment functions that evaluate the user's performance of the assignments. A student uses a browser to submit a request to a learning management system (LMS) that includes a URL to a network node hosting the proprietary learning content and assessment functions. The LMS sends a hidden form to the browser, causing the browser to automatically redirect to the network node. The proprietary provider then controls distribution of the proprietary learning content to the browser and controls the student's interaction with the proprietary learning content to accomplish the assignment. When the student submits responses to the assignment, the proprietary provider performs proprietary assessment functions and redirects only results data to the LMS through the browser.
The present invention as disclosed hereby is to provide an apparatus and method for allowing images to correspond to each other and a program therefore to automatically perform or make synchronous correspondence of images. According to the apparatus on the condition that there are OHP files and a moving image photographing a lecture or the like using such OHP files, resemblances between the OHP files and OHP image regions of frame images constituting the moving image is calculated such that the correspondence processing between the OHP files and the frame images can be performed based on the calculated resemblances.
A hosted system and method for user creation and update of a user Web, provides for customization of appearance and functionality of a user Web that is totally separate from the maintenance of the variable contents of a user Web. The hosted system and method of the present invention first generates a fixed default design for a user's Web site of at least one generic type of page and the linkages between this page and a Home Page. Thereafter, the hosted system provides capabilities for a user to perform multiple, generic types of customization of the appearance of a user Web from which both a `view` and a companion `update` Web page is generated for each user page. Any variable content of a `view` page of a user Web is entered and updated by the user employing the `update` Web page after the Web site has been generated and stored at a Host by the hosted system and method of the present invention.
Disclosed are a learning system and method for auditory learners. The system comprises recording means for capturing, digitizing, storing, and indexing voice statements; and means for allowing an auditory learner to search said indexing for desirable voice statements. The learning system further comprises means for playing on demand and broadcasting said desired voice statements to said auditory learner; means for creating an auditory live session for said learner; and means for mining said voice statements for emerging subject matter and to create new voice statements for playing on demand to said learner. The preferred embodiment of the invention is a new deployment vehicle for informal learning cultivated within a Community of Practice and broadcast over IP.
Information is quickly offered to users who require the information. In a system in which questions and answers are exchanged, when a given user other than the questioner becomes interested in a question, the user requests a notification server 1 to present the question. The answers to the question are automatically sent to a notification client 2 of the user. The answers to be sent may be either all the answers to the question or only the effective answers. Supports to the answers and comments on the answers may be accepted to decide the effectiveness of the answers.
