Abstract
This invention is a device for translatably positioning a patient along a bed. The device has a motor connected to a series of pulleys. A corresponding series of straps are attached at one end to a respective pulley and at the other end to a bed sheet. As the pulleys are rotated by operation of the motor, each strap is wound around its respective pulley thereby causing the associated sheet to be drawn in the general direction of the pulleys. The device may be operated by the patient or a caregiver and the device contains a safety mechanism that prevents the pulleys from pulling the associated bed sheet completely into the device. In one embodiment of the invention, the components of the device are received onto a portable, adjustable frame that permits the device to be transported to a number of different beds and used with beds of differing sizes.

7434278 - Apparatus for patient mobility

An apparatus for repositioning bedridden patients with: a base, vertical and horizontal movements, and lifting portion; telescoping legs extending outward from the base with wheels affixed to each leg; detachable clamps affixed to each leg and capable of removeably attaching to a bed; the horizontal movement containing a roller and belts actuated by a gear and crank assembly coupled to the vertical movement portion; the vertical movement having two lifting units with first and second pistons coupled to the inside of each of the units and a hydraulic pump and controller for the actuation of the hydraulic pump and the upward and downward movement of the pistons; the lifting portion comprising a telescoping lifting arm with a lead screw and a crank for extending or retracting said lifting arm and with a lateral movement portion coupled to the top of the vertical movement and the lifting portion.

7571498 - Patient transfer device

A transfer device transfers an individual from a bed to an adjacent support surface or vice versa and includes a mobile unit defined by a base and an upstanding structure having lower and upper end portions respectively adjacent to and remote from the base. A lower drive pulley and an upper idler pulley are located respectively adjacent to and remote from the base. A motor rotates the lower drive pulleys to wind thereupon a cable at least partially entrained upon the upper idler pulley. Clamps releasably connect the cable to a slide interposed between an individual and a bed or an adjacent support surface upon which an individual is reposed whereby upon operation of the motor, the slide with an individual thereon is pulled from a bed to an associated adjacent support surface or vice versa.

7591030 - Patient transfer device - Owned by Stryker Corporation (Kalamazoo, MI)

A retractor assembly for engaging a sheet on which a patient is disposed includes a transverse member and a pair of tethers coupled to the transverse member and extending from the transverse member for coupling to a winding assembly. A pair of sheet clamps are mounted to the transverse member, which are spaced apart along the longitudinal axis of the transverse member in a fixed spaced relationship for engaging a sheet at two points spaced along the longitudinal axis. The transverse member maintains the sheet clamps in their fixed spaced relationship whereby the sheet clamps resist inward migration toward each other when being used to handle a patient on a sheet.

7293303 - Method and device for repositioning patient in bed with safety features

The invention described is a device and method for repositioning a patient in a bed. Bedding material positioned underneath the patient is wound by a ratchet system and a crossbeam that allows for the patient to be repositioned when the bedding material is drawn around the crossbeam. The patient is moved without physical contact or being lifted by patient caregivers. In one embodiment, the device allows for the patient to be repositioned by a single operator caregiver. In another embodiment, the device can be quickly removed from the patient's bed.

7290299 - Device and method for positioning patients

A patient pull-up system is provided which enables a single operator to reposition a patient situated on a patient support, such as a bed, cart, gurney, or table, from a slumped position to a more upright position nearer the head of the patient support. The repositioning event is accomplished with minimal risk of injury or discomfort to the operator and patient. The patient pull-up system includes a translating device, a frame member, and a clamp adapted to grasp a portion of a sheet situated between a patient and a patient support.
