A device includes a keyboard and a display. The keyboard allows entry of data into the device, and the display provides an information output. The display has a first position in which the display hides the keyboard, and the display has a second position in which the keyboard is exposed to allow entry of data via the keyboard. The display is visible to the user in both the first position and the second position.
An electronic device (100), suitable for operation in a compact configuration, a portrait configuration, and a landscape configuration includes a first housing (102) and a second housing (104) coupled to the first housing. A data coupler (502) electronically couples the first housing with the second housing, and a bar linkage slides the first housing and the second housing in a non-linear motion with respect to each other.
A key fob for use in a remote keyless entry system of a vehicle includes a transmitter housing having at least one user operable button thereon indicative of remote keyless entry functions associated with the vehicle for transmitting function requests when the user operable buttons are depressed. A cover is retained on the transmitter housing and is slidably movable between an open position exposing the buttons and a closed position wherein the buttons are covered by the cover. Compression springs are coupled between the transmitter housing and the cover such that the springs urge the cover toward the open position, while a catch mechanism selectively and releasably secures the cover in the closed position against the bias of the springs.
A slide hinge for a small-sized information terminal having a first casing with keyboard and a relatively slid second casing with display. The slide hinge has a linear slide between the first and second casings, and a turning mechanism for a turning operation of the casings. The slide has a first guide groove provided on an undersurface of the second casing, a guide pin engaged with the first groove and attached to an upper surface of the first casing. The turning mechanism has a rotary hinge on an upper surface of one side of the first casing, a turning member rotatably attached to the rotary hinge in a horizontal direction, and a second pin attached to a free end of the turning member and engaged with a second groove provided on the undersurface of the second casing in cross direction of the first guide groove.
An apparatus for opening and closing a slide type portable terminal comprising a guide unit formed between a display unit and a body unit for guiding the display unit to be moved in a longitudinal direction, a driving unit for moving the display unit, and a switching unit for applying a power to the driving unit to move the display unit in the longitudinal direction, wherein the switching unit applies a forward power to the driving unit to move the display unit in an open direction and applies a reverse power to the driving unit to move the display unit in a closed direction.
