A cable connector comprises a housing having a terminus receiving cavity that receives a terminus assembly. The cavity has a rearward facing shoulder and an annular recess defining a forward facing shoulder. The terminus assembly includes a terminus which is attached to the end of a cable. The terminus has rearward and forward facing shoulders, an annular recess rearward of the forward facing shoulder and a second forward facing shoulder rearward of the recess. The terminus assembly also includes a forward stop ring and a rearward lock ring slidably mounted on the terminus, and a coil spring biasing the rearward lock ring toward the first forward facing shoulder. A retention ring that is slideably mounted on the terminus behind the rearward lock ring has a rearward end engageable with the second forward facing shoulder of the terminus and a plurality of circumferentially spaced, cantilevered, depressible fingers having outwardly projecting lock tangs. The depressible spring fingers are engagable with the rearward lock ring to hold the lock tangs against the forward facing shoulder of the housing to retain the terminus assembly in the cavity.
Described is an insulated non-halogenated, heavy metal free vehicular cable comprising an inner core of a copper based metal wire having a cross sectional area of at least about 0.1 mm.sup.2, and an outer insulation, covering the length of the inner core, comprised of a thermoplastic polyphenylene ether composition that has no halogen or heavy metal added thereto, the insulated cable capable of meeting the testing standard ISO 6722.
An optical fiber terminus includes an elongated body with a passage along a central axis for receiving a portion of an optical fiber cable therethrough and an indexing section. A ferrule is secured to the body and has an end portion of said optical fiber cable therein. A collar is positioned on the elongated body and has an engagement section for engaging the indexing section. The collar is movable along the axis between first and second operative positions. In the first operative position relative rotational movement between the collar and the body is prevented and in the second operative position the collar may rotate relative to the body. A biasing member is provided to bias the collar towards the first operative position.
Described is a vehicular harness comprising a plurality of insulated non-halogenated, heavy metal free vehicular cables, each comprising an inner core of a copper based metal wire having a thickness area of at least about 0.1 mm, an outer insulation, covering the length of the inner core, comprised of a thermoplastic polyphenylene ether composition that has no halogen or heavy metal added thereto, the insulated cable capable of meeting the testing standard ISO 6722, and a tape comprised of the thermoplastic polyphenylene ether composition wrapped around the plurality of cables to hold the cables together. Also described is a tape having a plastic PPE layer with an adhesive on the bottom and a pealable layer.
