Abstract
A system and method for providing e-mail messages to a user in a more efficient manner. Specifically, the system and method of the present invention enable attachments to be downloaded separately from the text-part of the e-mail message, which requires less bandwidth to download. Instead, these attachments are represented by links in the message which is downloaded to the e-mail client of the user, such that the user can "click on" or otherwise select a link in order to retrieve the attachment. Preferably, the attachment is downloaded to the computational device of the user in a streamed manner.

7209953 - E-mail system using attachment identifier generated at issuer device for retrieving appropriate file version from e-mail's issuer

The present invention provides a system and method for transmitting a file associated with an email message from an issuer device in a network to a recipient device in the network. The email message and file are generated by the issuer device in response to a request received at the issuer device. The system comprises a proxy server in the network, processing software operating on the proxy server and transmission software operating on the issuer device. The transmission software operating on the issuer device has an attachment selection module and an attachment transmission module. The attachment selection module generates an attachment identifier related to the file, the attachment identifier identifies the issuer device, a version of the file and a location in the network for the proxy server. The attachment selection module further generates an email for transmission to the recipient device, the email having the attachment identifier attached thereto. The attachment transmission module forwards the version of the file towards the recipient device in response to a transmission request received from the proxy server. The processing software operating on the proxy server has request processing module and an issuer interface module. The request processing module processes a received request from the recipient device to process the attachment identifier. The issuer interface module generates and sends the transmission request to the issuer device in response to the received request, the transmission request providing the attachment identifier to the issuer device.

7392039 - Complete message delivery to multi-mode communication device - Owned by Novatel Wireless, Inc. (San Diego, CA)

A system and method for complete message delivery to a multi-mode communication device is presented. The communication device is adaptable to communicate with one or more carrier networks and one or more data networks. When a new message is received for the communication device, a message notification is sent to the device via a first network. The communication device parses the message notification and retrieves the complete message via a second network. Alternatively, the message notification may be delivered and the complete message may be retrieved via the same network.

7305442 - Asynchronous user-authorized advertising - Owned by Sprint Spectrum L.P. (Overland Park, KS)

A system and method for advertising on a subscriber terminal. A server may send an advertising authorization request to the subscriber terminal. The advertising authorization request may comprise options that a user may select for accepting or rejecting an advertisement to be sent to the subscriber terminal. If the subscriber terminal accepts the advertisement, the server or subscriber terminal may wait for one or more triggering events to occur. The triggering events may include the subscriber terminal being idle, substantially stationary, and/or a specific time of day. Upon occurrence of the one or more triggering events, the subscriber terminal may display the advertisement on its display screen.
