An apparatus for securing a workpiece comprising first and second clamp members, and a transportable elongate member to which the clamp members are mounted and are operable for being shifted between work engaging and work releasing positions. In one form, the apparatus may be configured with clamp members capable of being fully removed from the elongate member and placed back thereon while maintaining the operability of the clamp members. At least one of the clamp members may be capable of being mounted on the elongate member in a plurality of directions, or may include jaw assemblies which are removable from and/or rotatable with respect to the elongate member. In addition, the apparatus may include a base for securing the base to a work surface and a catch for securing the elongate member to the base. In another form, the base may be configured to receive and secure the elongate member in a plurality of directions.
A bar clamp (10) comprising a bar (16), a first clamping jaw (12) mounted on the bar, a second clamping jaw (14) sliding mounted on the bar, at least one of the clamping jaws (12,14) comprising a double-faced clamping jaw (12A, 12B, 14A, 14B) comprising one face facing one end of the bar and another face facing an opposite end of the bar, wherein centers of both faces of the double-faced clamping jaw are positioned at substantially equal heights from the bar, and a jaw advancing mechanism (20) coupled to the second clamping jaw (14) and adapted to move the second clamping jaw (14) selectively towards or away from the first clamping jaw (12).
A truss clamp for connection with a second clamp when installing truss assemblies includes a mechanism for adjustably connecting the two clamps in spaced relation. The truss clamp includes a fixed member and a rotatable member, the rotatable member having first and second ends and being pivotally connected to the fixed member intermediate the ends of the rotatable member and being rotatable between a first position wherein the first end is in confronting relation with a portion of the fixed member and a second position wherein the second end is in confronting relation with the portion of the fixed member. A holding mechanism may be disposed over a center spring action mechanism, for selectively maintaining the rotatable member in at least the second position. A method of installing trusses using a truss clamp is also disclosed.
A device is provided for securing a writing tablet to a frame member. The tablet defines first and second opposing lateral edges. The device comprises an elongate bar, a clamp member, and first and second support elements. The elongate bar defines a distal end. The clamp member is attached to the distal end of the bar and is fastenable to the frame member. The first and second support elements are attached to the bar and are positionable along a length of the bar. The support elements each include an engagement surface configured to engage the first and second lateral edges of the tablet.
A clamp is adapted to be secured to a second substantially identical clamp in order to accommodate a larger workpiece than can be held by a single clamp. The clamp includes a first jaw that is secured to an intermediate member, such as a bar or pipe, and a second jaw that is removeably securable to the intermediate member so as to selectively oppose the first jaw. The second jaw includes a surface thereon that is configured to interlock with a complimentarily-shaped surface on a second jaw of the second clamp.
A jaw for a bar clamp and a method of using a bar clamp, the bar clamp including a trigger having a first force applying mechanism to apply a first force against the drive lever at a first point on the drive lever that is remote from the bar as the trigger pivots with respect to the main section to provide low mechanical advantage to the drive lever. The trigger also having a second force applying mechanism to apply a second force against the drive lever at a second point on the drive lever that is closer to the bar than the first point as the trigger pivots with respect to the main section to provide high mechanical advantage to the drive lever.
