A remote control transmitter is provided with an AUDIO key for switching an audio mode in sound multiplex broadcasting and an ENTER key for determining various types of selections. When the ENTER key is operated in a state where the audio mode is temporarily selected by operating the AUDIO key, the state where the audio mode is temporarily selected is treated as the steady selection corresponding to setting on a menu screen.
A display device can simultaneously receive digital display signal and analog display signal and display a television program corresponding to one of the signals on a display panel. The display device includes the following components: a digital tuner, an analog/digital converter, a video decoder, an audio decoder, a de-interlacer, a scaler, a display driver, a display panel, an audio amplifier, and a speaker. The display device allows the user to watch a television program corresponding to the digital display signal or the analog display signal on the display panel and listen to amplified television audio signal from the speaker.
An apparatus for generating an OSD in a digital TV is provided, which comprises an OSD generator for generating an OSD associated with a digital broadcast received through a digital tuner and an OSD associated with an analog broadcast received through an analog tuner, and a controller for controlling the OSD generator according to a user command requesting that the OSD be displayed. The OSD associated with the analog broadcast and the OSD associated with the digital broadcast are processed in an image processor in an integrated manner under the control of the controller for controlling the OSD generator, thereby preventing degradation of the image quality of the OSD associated with the digital broadcast.
There is provided a combined TV and FM radio receiver for selectively receiving TV and FM radio signals via a single tuner using a digital intermediate frequency (IF) stage. The receiver includes a tuner that selects TV band or FM radio band signals and converts the selected signals into IF signals or primary sound IF signals; an IF processor that generates local oscillating signals depending on whether a current mode is a TV mode or an FM radio mode, and converts the IF signals and/or primary sound IF signals, into baseband signals and secondary sound IF signals, respectively; a video demodulator that extracts video signals; an audio demodulator that extracts TV audio signals and FM radio signals according to TV sound or FM radio mode data; and a controller that controls the tuner, and the IF processor, and applies the TV sound or FM radio mode data to the audio demodulator.
