A card edge connector (100) comprises an insulative housing (1) defining a central slot (10) with a plurality of contacts (2) by two sides. Two arms (3) are positioned at two opposite ends of the insulative housing. Each arm includes a plastic portion (30) and a metal portion (31) attached to the plastic potion. The plastic portion includes a locking lug (301) and a restraint head (302). The metal portion is retained to the housing and extends inwardly a guidance stud (316) and a stop tag (317) for covering the locking lug and the restraint head respectively, and the stop tag is as high as an upper end of the guidance stud. While a card module is inserted into the central slot in a correct position and rotated downwardly to directly engage and push the guidance studs, the metal portions together with the plastic portions can be deflected outwards so that the card module is secured held.
A card edge connector that allows the insertion of an electric card includes an insulating body, a plurality of terminals, and two metallic pieces. Each of the two metallic pieces includes a substrate, an elastic arm connected to the substrate, and a locking portion connected to the upper edge of the free end of the elastic arm. The locking portion has a curved bottom surface and a smooth bottom surface. The smooth bottom surface is adjacent to the curved bottom surface. When locked, the curved bottom surface of the locking portion presses and locks the electric card. When the curved bottom surface loosens due to vibrations of the electric card, the smooth bottom surface of the locking portion presses and locks the electric card firmly. Therefore, the locking effect is increased, and the electric card is prevented from loosening and bounding upwardly.
A memory card connector system includes a connector having a rear terminal-mounting section mounting a plurality of terminals for engaging appropriate contacts on a memory card. The rear section defines at least part of a receptacle for receiving a mating end of the memory card. A pair of shaped side wall sections extend forwardly from opposite ends of the rear section for guiding the memory card into the receptacle. Each side wall section includes a card stabilizing notch. A memory card has a mating end insertable into the receptacle and a stabilizing protrusion engageable in each of the card stabilizing notches to prevent the card from shifting relative to the connector.
A card edge connector comprises an insulator body and a pair of metal components. A central slot is provided along the longitudinal direction of the insulator body. The pair of metal components is disposed at distal ends of two opposite sides of the insulator body. Each metal component includes a main body member fixed on the insulator body and a fixing member soldered to a printed circuit board. At least one soldering point is protrudingly provided on the fixing member. The proposed card edge connector can effectively save space, and has a simple structure. Moreover, it can be conveniently manufactured to enhance production efficiency, can be easily installed or dismantled, and can be firmly connected to a printed circuit board.
