A system, method, apparatus, means, and computer program code that may help reduce and possibly minimizes the burden on a network, components of the network, etc. when one or more alarms are created involving the network or one or more of its components. A state driven architecture guiding communication between a first device or application, such as a network management system (NMS), and a second device or application, such as a serving mobile location center (SMLC), may be used to handle communications or information regarding one or more alarms that may be generated by the second device or application as a result of problems involving the network or one or more of its components.

The present application claims priority from commonly owned provisional U.S. application No. 60/364,783 filed Mar. 18, 2002 and entitled "Radio Commander Alarm Monitoring Serving Mobile Location Center Via State-Based Architecture".
A method and system for displaying status indications from a communications network is provided. Alert identifiers are provided that identify a communications-network alert to be presented to a user on a display device. A set of presentation attributes desired to be displayed with the alert are provided, and a plurality of data structures from which the presentation attributes can be gathered is identified. The presentation attributes are retrieved from the plurality of data structures, and inputted into a single presentation data structure, which can be the sole object of a data query used to retrieve information to be presented in connection with the communications-network alert.
A system for analyzing information relating to network devices comprises a computer readable storage medium and computer software stored on the computer readable storage medium. The computer software reviews message information generated by a plurality of network devices, stores first event records associating first events from the message information with the plurality of the network devices, reviews user-reported event information, correlate the user-reported event information with a network device, store a second event record associating a second event from the user-reported event information with the network device correlated with the user-reported event information, calculate a total value for on ones of the network devices, and generates a report according to the total values.
A system for analyzing information relating to network devices comprises a computer readable storage medium and computer software stored on the computer readable storage medium. The computer software reviews message information generated by a plurality of network devices, stores event records associating events from the message information with the plurality of network devices, determines whether two or more duplicate events are within a time window, assigns a weighting value to at least some of the events, excluding at least some of the duplicate events in response to determining that the duplicate events are within the time window, calculates a total value for one of the plurality of network devices using the weighting values, and generates a report according to the total values calculated for the network devices.
