Backrest for a vehicle seat with a height-adjustable headrest, which is adjusted by support rods guided inside the backrest frame, and which has ends of the support rods connected to one another by a crossbar having one or more radially biased retaining elements for retaining an end of one of the support rods, and a locking element provided for restricting movement of the retaining element. During assembly of the automobile seat, before upholstering, one of the stop-lock connections located between the support rods and the crossbar is locked by pushing a locking element up on the outside of the retaining element. The stop-lock connection is thus "frozen" to a certain extent. Once manufacturing of the automobile seat is completed, this stop-lock connection can be disengaged only by partially removing the upholstery, which for practical purposes excludes a removal of the headrests for day-to-day driving.
Vehicle seat has a seat portion and a backrest that includes side wings foldable forwardly onto the seat portion around a backrest swiveling axis to provide a materially horizontal loading area in a cargo position. Adjustment device for flatting the contour of the side wings when the backrest is folded forward onto the seat portion is provided in the side wings. In each side wing, a wing device determines the contour of the side wing with the device swiveling in a longitudinal direction on the backrest frame via a lever mechanism. Backrest can be locked and released when in the use position. A prestressed tension device is connected to the lever mechanism. The tension device exerts tension on the lever mechanism when the backrest is folded forward causing the wing device to swing horizontally inward in the direction of the backrest frame to flatten the contour of the side wings.
Inclination adjustment fitting for backrest of a vehicle seat includes a fitting part affixable to vehicle seat, and a further fitting part affixable to a vehicle backrest, and which fitting parts pivot relative to one another around a pivoting axis, in use. Fitting parts include gearings providing part of a wobble gearing and rolling on one another under influence of an eccentric device rotatable around pivoting axis, and which includes an eccentric ring, on which wedge segments with end surfaces covering regions of the eccentric ring are provided. Rotating adjustment element is provided for the eccentric device and has an out-of-round recess for an actuating rod. Carrier elements and an additional carrier element are provided for connection of an eccentric ring with rotating adjustment element. The rotating adjustment element is guided in a radially movable manner on eccentric ring by the carrier elements and by the additional carrier element.
