The pillow (10) comprises a body (12) made of an elastically deformable material provided with a top side (14) upon which the head of a user can be rested, and an underside (16) for being placed upon a pillow support. The top side (14) is joined to the underside (16) by at least one shoulder side (18, 18b). Said shoulder side is provided with a shoulder cut-out (20A, 20B) that forms an opening for the cervical vertebrae of the user when he is lying on his back, and forms an accommodating space for the shoulder of the user when he is lying on his side. The top side (14) preferably comprises a recess (22) that partially accommodates the head of the user (H), called the head receiving recess (22).
A pillow for supporting the head of a user during sleeping, having a generally rectangular main body of resiliently compressible foam material presenting a lower surface configured to overlie stably on a sleeping platform and an upper surface for supporting a user's head. An interior void extending longitudinally between opposite ends of the main body generally centrally between the upper and lower surfaces and generally centrally between the longitudinal sides of the main body. A central opening extends interiorly into the main body and merges into the interior void of the main body. The upper surface generally surrounding the central opening defines a central head support area and the upper surface generally between the central opening and an adjacent longitudinal side of the main body defines a neck support area which, in cooperation with the central opening and the interior void, supports a user's head and neck when in an upwardly facing disposition with the head tilted slightly relative to the neck to tend to open breathing passages through the user's nose and throat to mitigate snoring.
A neck supporting pillow apparatus that provides support for both the head and neck by way of adjustable inflation of the resting surface of the pillow is disclosed. An inflatable pillow structure has a head support section and a raised neck support section. The head support section includes a generally concave mid-portion bordered by generally planar side surfaces. The raised neck support includes a top surface that is generally convexly shaped to provide proper neck support. The pillow body defines an internal chamber with an openable cover to allow for insertion of a heat pack or cold pack. Independently inflatable firmness bladders allow for customization of support by increasing or decreasing the pressure in bladders.
