The specification describes improved ceramic "split" tiles, that is to say tiles which are joined together back to back during firing and split apart for use. In accordance with the invention, the tiles of each pair are connected together by connecting zones or necks alternating with raised or convex and sunken or concave surface portions. The raised and sunken surface portions are present on both tiles and each raised surface portion fits in a complementary manner into a sunken portion in the other tile and stands proud of the connecting zones.
A gutter system is disclosed for waterproofing basements and the like by channeling seepage water around the perimeter of the basement to either drain or open pit which may contain a sump pump. The gutter system is provided in kit form which includes a plurality of individual components which can be connected together by connecting members into a variety of configurations. Each component of the system is adhesively bonded to the floor and provided with an open conduit arranged facing the wall for channeling water which is collected therein.
Brick building components made by splitting a whole brick having suitable slots, the split bricks being provided with slots into which reinforcement means can be fitted. A greatly increased tensile strength, both vertically and horizontally, is obtained, providing sufficient strength for manufacturing transportable, prefabricated components.
