A mechanism for performing a control function such as switching off an apparatus such as a tape recorder upon stopping of the rotary movement of a component at a time that other parts of the apparatus are still rotating. A pivotally mounted lever oscillates in response to rotation of the component, and stays at a central position upon stopping of the component. A coupling rod links the lever to a reciprocating connecting rod, and diverts the connecting rod from a path which will intercept the control function actuating device when the lever oscillates away from the central position.
An automatic tape feeding direction reversing device in a tape recorder comprising a reel support rotated by a tape winding power source, an actuator which is oscillated about a movable shaft and which, when the reel support stops rotating, is moved together with the movable shaft, a reversing lever which is turned by the displacement of the movable shaft, and a reversing mechanism actuated by the reversing lever to reverse the tape winding direction.
A mechanism for use in a cassette tape recorder automatically changes the mode of the recorder when the end of the tape is reached by sensing the cessation of rotation of the pinch roller. A mode change lever having an elongated hole with converging sides that receives a cylindrical portion of the pinch roller is biased by a spring so that the cylindrical portion engages the converging sides and the mode-change lever tends to rotate in a first direction. Once the pinch roller ceases to rotate, the mode-change lever is moved in a direction opposite the first direction and so that it cooperates with a mode-change drive assembly rotated by the capstan. The mode-change lever is then displaced and releases a mode key, so that the mode of the recorder is changed and is typically shut off.
An automatic stop mechanism for a tape recorder having a first rotary member adapted to rotate in connection with the feed of the tape, a second rotary member adapted to rotate in connection with the operation of a motor, and a slide member adapted to be displaced in accordance with the state of operation of said first and second rotary members. The slide member is adapted to switch the tape recorder to inoperative mode when the first rotary member stops to rotate.
