Abstract
Apparatus for supporting a door during processing and applying fixtures thereto prior to installing in a doorway comprises a rigid elongated frame including vertical supports at each end thereof and one or more longitudinal members interconnecting the vertical supports, each of such longitudinal members comprising a pair of telescoping tubular members and means for securing the tubular members in any desired relative positions to accommodate doors of different lengths. A pair of lateral door-supporting cross arms are individually pivotally connected to the vertical supports. A first clamp is secured to one of the cross arms near its pivotal connection to one of the vertical supports and is manually operable to clamp a door to the associated cross arm, while a second clamp is secured to the outer end of the other of the cross arms and is also manually operable to clamp a door thereto. Each of the clamps is preferably a resilient toggle joint. One of the cross arms comprises a pair of telescoping members for adjusting the position of the second clamp and means for securing such members in a plurality of desired relative axial positions to accommodate doors of different widths. A spring-biased, manually releasable latch is provided for engaging a selected slot of a cross arm indexing plate, effective to dispose an attached door in a desired position.

4530492 - Apparatus for supporting vehicle body parts

Apparatus and method for supporting vehicle body parts to be worked upon, and the method includes the steps of supporting a vehicle body part, such as a car door, on a mobile jack and moving the body part to apparatus which supports the body part after the apparatus is withdrawn. The apparatus includes an enclosure frame which is horizontally disposed and which has two separable sections so that the body part can be placed within the confines of one of the sections, and the other section can then be assembled with the first section for completely supporting the vehicle body part for working thereon.

6024348 - Adjustable clamping stand for supporting automobile panels - Owned by It's Dents or Us, Inc. (Overland Park, KS)

A stand for supporting an automobile body panel having a peripheral edge for inspection and repair comprises two sets of clamping members secured on opposite ends of two clamping assemblies which are pivotally mounted to the top of a vertically oriented telescoping support assembly. Each clamping member include a clamp pad having a groove formed therein and adapted to receive a peripheral edge of the automobile body panel to support the panel during inspection and repair.

6561470 - System and method for treating object surfaces - Owned by Simplistic Tools & Systems Ltd (Layton, UT)

In a system for treating object surfaces, a first and a second object hanger, each comprising a plate and a shaft, are mounted upon an object such as a door that requires a surface treatment such as painting. The mounted object hangers may be placed into supporting braces on a treatment apparatus, whereupon the object can be rotated into a desired position. A positioning attachment upon each supporting brace selectively maintains the object in the desired position. Following surface treatment, the mounted object hangers may be placed into storage braces on a storage apparatus, such that any treated object surfaces may dry or cure. One storage brace includes an anchoring insert, which keeps an object hanger, and hence the object attached thereto, in a predetermined position. The storage apparatus may accommodate multiple objects in a side-by-side manner.

7077365 - Work stand

A work stand includes a first support section, having a first end and a second end, and a second support section, having a first end and a second end. An elongated brace, having a first end and a second end, the first end of the elongated brace is disposed on the first support section proximate to the first end of the first support section, and the second end of the elongated brace is disposed on the second support section proximate to the first end of the second support section. A first rotatable mount is disposed upon the first support section proximate to the second end of the first support section, and a second rotatable mount is disposed upon the second support section proximate to the second end of the second support section.

5830273 - Workpiece support

The present invention provides a support for enabling a door to be painted or finished conveniently without interference or obstruction. The support is an elongated member having first and second ends. Adjacent to one end, the member includes a hole and a flange structure with another hole aligned with the hole in the member for removably receiving a nail such that the sharp tip and a portion of the nail is exposed. In use, the nail is set in the top edge of the door and the second end of the support is rested against a wall. Thus supported, there is unobstructed access to the two long side edges and two main sides of the door. A fulcrum is provided along the member, more closely adjacent to the end with the flange structure than to the other end, to assist in levering the member, particularly the nail, free of the door after it is finished.
