Abstract
A non-glare, electromagnetic interference rejecting screen for a video display terminal. The screen comprises a front panel, formed of a transparent material, a rear panel, formed of a transparent material and a woven mesh screen interposed therebetween. A gasket is disposed about the front panel, with peripheral edge portions of the screen extending over the gasket. The screen is mounted on the display terminal so that the wire mesh is interposed between the gasket and the screen retaining frame, e.g., bezel, to form a good electrical interface therebetween. The strands of the screen are disposed at right angles to one another, with none of said strands being disposed horizontally or vertically. The strands are formed of electrically conductive material and are coated with silver. The silver surface is in the form of silver sulfide to give a darkened appearance.

6103640 - Electromagnetic-wave shielding and light transmitting plate - Owned by Bridgestone Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

An electromagnetic-wave shielding and light transmitting plate is provided which is formed of two transparent base plates and a conductive mesh member. The conductive mesh member 3 is interposed between two transparent base plates and is bonded together to form an integrated member and the margins of the conductive mesh member are folded along the peripheral edges of one of the transparent base plates and are secured to the transparent base plate with a conductive adhesive tape. This structure allows easy assemblage of the electromagnetic-wave shielding and light transmitting plate to a body of an equipment and provides uniform and low-resistant conduction between the electromagnetic-wave shielding and light transmitting plate and the body.

4364095 - Apparatus for preventing or alternatively restricting the discharge of anions and X-rays from the front side of cathode ray tubes

On the rear wall of a cathode ray tube a metal disc system is arranged adjacent to the longitudinal axis of the tube, which metal disc system acts as an eddy current brake. The metal disc is substantially vertical to the rear wall, its diameter in a special embodiment is 60 mm and is arranged within a circle of about 500 mm diameter around the longitudinal axis of the tube parallel to the axis of the tube bulb. The metal disc preferably is of conductive metal, for instance aluminium or copper.

4795941 - Electromagnetic wave shielding, transparent panel for a display device - Owned by Riken EMC Co., Ltd. (JP)

A transparent panel for a display device of cathode-ray tube type comprising, an electromagnetic shielding web defined by the wires made of an electromagnetic shielding material, and the transparent panel members sustaining said electromagnetic shielding web to shield the radiated electromagnetic waves so as to protect the observer from the effects of the waves.

4412255 - Transparent electromagnetic shield and method of manufacturing - Owned by Optical Coating Laboratory, Inc. (Santa Rosa, CA)

A transparent electromagnetic shield adapted for use on an information display device in electronic equipment. First and second transparent substrates each having major front and back surfaces are adapted to be mated together with a front surface of one substrate facing a back surface of the other. A conductive wire screen is interposed between the first and second substrates in physical contact with one of the mating front and back surfaces thereof and a single layer of polymer laminating material is interposed between the screen and the other of the mating surfaces. The layer of polymer laminating material fills the apertures in the screen and contacts portions of both mating surfaces to bond the screen and the two substrates together. An embodiment in which the wire screen is provided in contact with a conductive transparent optical coating on one of the mating surfaces of the substrates is also disclosed. A conductive metal tape is wrapped around the edge of the substrate in contact with the wire screen to serve as a bus bar contact to the screen, enabling use of a screen the same size as the substrate.

4686576 - Conductive screen for video display unit - Owned by Northern Technologies, Ltd. (Markham,CA)

A conductive screen for a video display unit. In particular, this invention discloses an electromagnetic interference ("EMI") shielding device for a video display unit and methods for making the same. This invention relates to an EMI shielding device which an electrically conductive screen is in electrically conductive contact with the face of a cathode ray tube also eliminating the build up of static electricity therefrom. The conductive screen and faceplate of the video display unit are held in contact with the cathode ray tube by the bezel of the cathode ray tube housing.
