Abstract
A water supply hose has one or more jets operable to maintain that part of the supply hose which is upstream from the jet in tension, the supply hose having its free end supported by a surface float. Another length of hose smaller in diameter extends from the float in line with the larger-diameter water supply hose, the other hose terminating also in a surface float and having a jet disposed adjacent the latter float to maintain the smaller-diameter hose normally under tension. Alternatively, a length of the water supply hose upstream from the first mentioned float may be made of smaller diameter than the balance of the water supply hose and this smaller-diameter portion is then provided with a drive jet adjacent the float adapted to keep the smaller-diameter portion of the hose under tension. The cleaner may be or may not be provided with one or more cleaning hoses.

4348192 - Automatic pool cleaner - Owned by Jandy Industries, Inc. (San Rafael, CA)

A swimming pool cleaner of the random movement type having a surface transporter which rollingly engages the pool walls and a jet drive which reverses or changes direction when the transporter is stopped or slowed is provided with additional controls which as a consequence of the turning movement of the transporter against the deep end pool wall causes the transporter to travel back and forth along said deep end wall and thereby spend more time along said wall.

5879214 - Convertible floating and sledding toy

A convertible toy that can be ridden by a child alternatively: (i) floating on water in a swimming pool or (ii) downhill sledding on snow covered hills. The toy has an elongate hull for buoyantly floating the toy and child on a water surface, and for sliding downhill on a frozen snow covered hill surface. For example, the hull may be a hollow blow molded plastic body with downwardly extending ribs having a flat bottom surface. Handlebars are mounted to a steering shaft housed within the hull for steering the direction of the toy. The steering shaft can be releaseably mounted with a water jet nozzle and alternatively with a snow riding ski. The toy mimics both a snowmobile and a jet-powered watercraft, for use in summer and winter. The water jet nozzle is supplied with pressurized water from a swimming pool filtration system via a flexible hose.

6895984 - Pool cleaner deployment arrangement

In conjunction with a pool cleaning apparatus having a flexible hose supported by floats, an apparatus for deploying the hose into the pool includes at least one tube through which the hose extends. A plurality of water jets extend into the tube downstream from the entrance and are angled obliquely toward the outer, pool end of the tube. The jets interact with the floats to drive the floats and the hose into the pool. A pressure chamber may be provided surrounding the tube to supply the jets.

4675921 - Device for use with automatic pool cleaner

A device for use with an automatic pool cleaner in a swimming pool which consists of a suction head and a suction pipe connecting the suction head to the filter of the swimming pool. The device comprises an attachment member adapted to be attached to the suction pipe of the pool cleaner, a buoyant member and means for connecting the bouyant member to the attachment member.

4881856 - Chip snake

A device for cleaning impacted material, such as wood chips in silos, utilizing a raking action of regularly spaced spikes and a flailing action of a hose with a jet stream nozzle. The device comprises a hose, connectable at a proximal end to a compressed air supply, and a nozzle connectable to a distal end of the hose, the compressed air being forced through the hose and out the nozzle to cause the nozzle and the hose to move under the influence of the expulsion of compressed air at the distal end of the hose. The spikes are attached along the hose to provide regularly spaced raking elements, and anti-kink mechanisms urge the hose into straight alignment. In operation, the nozzle is lowered into a silo in the vicinity of impacted material. Then compressed air is introduced into the hose and expelled out the nozzle in a jet stream thereby causing the hose and nozzle to undulate within the silo such that the spikes strike and dislodge the impacted material.
