Abstract
The sink includes a basin with a drain-equipped rear portion of usual depth, or of depth adequate to perform intended tasks, and a substantially shallower forward portion. The exterior bottom of the sink portion in the front of that basin is correspondingly recessed to accommodate the knees and part of the lap of a seated user. Beside the stepped basin, the sink may have a second basin, for instance wholly of conventional depth. A number of optional sink inserts are disclosed including an imperforate pan and a perforated pan, each adapted to be removably disposed in the forward portion of a basin of the sink on two laterally spaced supports. A chopping block may be removably supported in one of the pans.

6799336 - Sink support shell apparatus and method of making a protective sink support shell

A sink support shell apparatus and method of making a sink support shell are provided. The sink support shell apparatus is a shell shaped to be compatible with the sink that is to be placed in the sink support shell. The sink support shell includes a rim for mounting the shell either above or below the countertop level. The shell further includes an overflow/vent channel and stand-off in the base for attaching the shell to the necessary plumbing fixtures to allow for drainage of the water from the sink. The overflow/vent channel is formed in the material of the shell and allows water to flow down the channel to be drained by the attached plumbing fixtures as well as air to be vented to reduce suction noise. The sink support shell is made of high-impact material, such as a metal or hard plastic material.

6351910 - Apparata and methods for submerged plant stem cutting - Owned by Rainbow Group LLC (Middleton, WI)

A flower stem cutting apparatus includes a cutting receptacle wherein a cutting chamber passage is defined, with the cutting chamber passage extending between an open cutting chamber top (wherein plant stems may be inserted for cutting) and an open cutting chamber bottom (from which cut plant stem ends may fall). A cutting blade is movable across the cutting chamber passage, whereby the blade may cut any plant stems therein. A cutting chamber floor is provided, with the cutting chamber floor being movable across the cutting chamber passage below the cutting blade so that it may, when actuated, at least substantially obstruct the cutting chamber passage. As a result, plant stems may be inserted within the cutting chamber passage until they rest on the cutting chamber floor, at which point the cutting blade may be actuated. A fluid conduit opens onto the cutting chamber passage from a point above the cutting blade and cutting chamber floor, so that water dispensed from the fluid conduit may collect in the cutting chamber passage to provide a submerged cut at the cutting blade when the cutting chamber floor is closed. A first bin is situated beneath the bottom of the cutting chamber to capture the water and cut plant stem ends falling from the cutting chamber. The first bin has a foraminated bottom, and a second bin is then situated beneath the first bin so that it may catch the water draining from the first bin's bottom. The cut plant stem ends are therefore maintained in the first bin for easy disposal. The aforementioned fluid conduit extends from the second bin so that water collected in the second bin may be recirculated back to the cutting chamber passage for reuse.

7246387 - Food preparation station - Owned by Erickson; E. Jay (Erie, CO)

A sink assembly supported by a countertop surface or a freestanding cabinet to form a food preparation station is provided. The stanchion has first and second uprights extending between lower edges that are coextensive with the basin floor and terminating in a platform spanning therebetween. Mounts, such as slotted brackets, releasably secure the stanchion to the basin floor. The coupling member may be first and second pairs of cooperating fasteners associated with the cutting board and platform. The fasteners can be a cooperating tab and slot and a cooperating spring clip and peg. The basin floor may be sloped in multiple directions while the cutting board, when coupled to the stanchion, extends generally parallel to the horizontal plane of the support surface.
