A method and apparatus for placing calls in a multi-system land mobile radio network. A plurality of call destinations are linked or grouped together into a call group. Each call destination has a preferred system. Selection of a first call destination points to or is linked to at least a second call destination. If the preferred system for a current call destination is not accessible, then a second call destination, selected in accordance with the first call destination is made the current call destination. Selecting a call group causes a radio to attempt a plurality of call destinations, each in sequence, until an accessible preferred system is found, indicating that the current call destination is valid. If an accessible system is found, then the call is placed thereto.
A system for channel assignment in a trunked transmission communication system including a plurality of subscribers. A plurality of subscribers is provided home channel assignment to reduce collisions. A home channel alias is provided for home channel coverage where a designated home channel is unavailable. A system for call grouping is provided to avoid talk group splitting. A first check is used to determine if other channels are conducting communications with identical home and talk group information. A second check is available after a temporary channel assignment. In one system both the home channel aliasing and call grouping are performed.
An improved private radio communication system and method for routing data signals to multiple remote devices connected to a common remote receiver and for routing data signals to applications both within the remote devices and within the common remote receiver is disclosed.
A multi-site dispatch communication network includes a hub controller programmed to expedite the connection between multiple radio cells to accomplish a broadcast of the radio transmission. A routing table is employed to provide an association between the various group identification codes and the respective mobile radio cell sites servicing members of the group. A connection table is employed to identify the resources utilized in the dispatch communication connection. When a dispatch communication is initiated, the routing table is accessed to determine which mobile radio cell sites service the various members of the group. When a connection is made to establish the dispatch communication, the connection table is written with information concerning the resources utilized to complete the dispatch communication. In this manner, dispatch communications can be quickly established and terminated. The resources of the network are thereby optimized.
A system for networking dispatch-type of communications. A plurality of radio cells are coupled to a centralized hub controller via the public switched telephone network. The radio cells are networked together via the hub controller using one or more telephone voice lines and a respective data line for providing communications between each radio cell and the hub controller. Data packets are transferred between the radio cells and the hub controller on the data lines to set up a path for the dispatch communications on the telephone voice lines. The hub controller carries out a trunking function of the telephone voice lines so that the number of voice lines are minimized, while yet preventing blocking of dispatch communications.
A method and apparatus for identifying call records in such a manner as to make it possible for a post processing system to produce one bill based upon information stored in all of the produced call records independently of the node where the record is produced. A unique identification code is generated when a call is setup or when the call enters a network. The identification code is then transferred from node to node as the call is transferred from one node to another. Each node involved in the call produces a call record which contains at least a portion of the identification code. As a result, all of the call records produced for the call can be identified by the identification code stored in the call records.
