Abstract
An air deflector for installation with a roof ventilator having a pair of vent parts defining a multiplicity of air passages, the air deflector comprising a base member and a generally upright air flow blocking member extending upwardly from the base member at a generally acute angle of 75.degree.. Two air deflectors extend along the entire length of the roof ventilator proximate to the outer edge of each opposing vent part. The base member is disposed between the bottom surface of the corresponding vent part, and the upright air flow blocking member confronts and is spaced apart a selected distance from the outer edge of the vent part and angles inwardly slightly toward the vent part. The top edge of the upright air flow blocking member angles slightly outward away from the vent part, and is disposed at approximately the same height as the top panel of the roof ventilator. The base member includes end notches designed and positioned to facilitate installation and retrofitting of the air deflector with a wide variety of existing roof ventilator configurations, and spacing of the upright air flow blocking member at desired distances from the outer edge of the vent part.

6212833 - Tapered ridge vent for the peak or ridge of a framed roof structure

A roof vent device formed from upper and lower outer surfaces sized to define a generally rectangular configuration having a linear axis. A tapered matrix is positioned between the outer surfaces, the taper being directed in a direction perpendicular to the axis to define a thin linear edge and a thick linear edge along the outer edges of the configuration that are parallel to the axis and tapered linear edges along the outer edges of the configuration that are perpendicular to the axis. The tapered matrix has a gap located proximate the middle of the tapered linear edges and extending generally over the linear axis of the outer surfaces. The gap defines an entrance for an air to vent air from beneath the roof ridge out the thick linear edge. The gap further provides a pivot point about which the configuration folds to conform to a roof pitch having a predetermined angle. In one embodiment the matrix is tapered from one outer edge to the gap and the remaining portion of the matrix is generally level. In the preferred embodiment, the taper extends from one linear edge to the other. In a preferred embodiment, a baffle extends out from the thick linear edge and is shaped to deflect outside air away from the thick linear edge without inhibiting air flow out of the linear edge from the air tunnel entrance.

6447392 - One sided roof vent

A vent device includes a rectangular configuration having a linear axis and edges forming a lift end and a no lift end. The no lift end has a predetermined thickness to thereby define a base cross section. The lift end has a predetermined thickness of at least twice that of the base cross section. The lift end has an opening for transferring air from the environment outside the structure to an opening communicating with its interior. The lift end may have at least two sets of layers to support the device at at least three locations having decreasing cross sectional height at the lift end, the interior position and the no lift end respectively. An optional pivot point permits the device to conform to the structure. Also optionally provided is a baffle or a cover filter to protect environmental particles.

6361434 - Rollable baffle and ridge vent - Owned by Owens Corning Fiberglas Technology, Inc. (Summit, IL)

A baffle adapted to be rolled with a ridge vent is comprised of an L-shaped configuration having first and second legs. The first leg is adapted to extend under the ridge vent. The second leg is adapted to be oriented at an angle relative to the first leg and some distance from the ridge vent when the baffle and the ridge vent are installed. The first leg is also adapted to be rolled. The second leg is adapted to collapse when the first leg is rolled. The invention is also directed towards a ridge vent in combination with the baffle and a method for forming the baffle.

6325712 - Ventilation assembly - Owned by Tapco International, Inc. (Plymouth, MI)

A ventilation assembly for ventilating an attic of a building through an opening in the roof or wall of the building. The ventilation assembly includes a vent structure having a mounting portion securing the vent structure to the building over the opening. The vent structure further includes a vent portion having a series of walls defining a series of unimpeded fluid passageways for providing unobstructed fluid flow through the vent portion over the opening. The ventilation assembly includes a partially porous membrane mounted to the roof or wall over the opening and spaced from the fluid passageway to maintain the unobstructed fluid flow through the fluid passageway. The membrane also creates a barrier for preventing the intrusion of particles, debris, insects and the like into the opening while allowing the ventilating to occur. The ventilation assembly may also include a series of ribs defining, a series of troughs disposed between the upstanding walls for directing a flow of material away from the ventilation assembly while allowing the ventilating to occur.
