Abstract
A portable lock for locking a door has a lock bar for insertion and retention between a door jamb and the latch side of a door. A housing is movable along the lock bar between a retracted position enabling pivoting movement of the door about its hinge between closed and open positions and a forward position engageable with the door in the closed position. A lever arm locking mechanism is movable between first and second positions for locking the housing in the forward position to prevent movement of the door from the closed position to the open position.

The present invention relates to a door safety device for use in conjunction with a door that is pivotably mounted to a wall. The safety device comprises a base member that mounts to either the door or the wall, and an engaging member that movably mounts to the engaging member for movement between operative and inoperative positions. In the operative position, the engaging member prevents the door from being moved into the closed position thereof. In the inoperative position, the engaging member is positioned such that the door can be moved to the closed position thereof.

A portable security device for locking a pair of stanchions of a cargo container which employs a J bar having a hook at one of its ends for engaging one stanchion and notches on its other end which are engageable by a complementary latch on a flip plate pivotally mounted to a housing which includes an elbow providing a pocket for the other stanchion. The J bar extends through aligned opening in side walls of the housing and in front of the other stanchion to lock it in its pocket. A puck lock secured to the housing holds the flip plate latch in engagement with a notch of the J bar.

A safety door lock is constructed to include a positioning plate for plugging into a mounting hole in the doorjamb, the positioning plate having a longitudinal sliding way and a serrated longitudinal rail along one side of the sliding way, and a stop plate assembly detachably inserted into the sliding way of the positioning plate for stopping the door panel in the closed status, the stop plate assembly including an angled bottom plate for stopping the door panel in the closed status, a movable engagement plate forced by a spring member into engagement with the serrated longitudinal rail of the positioning plate to stop the bottom plate from backward movement, and a spring-supported button for pressing by the user to disengage the movable engagement plate from the serrated longitudinal rail for enabling the stop plate assembly to be removed from the positioning plate.
