A network includes an operations support system (20) for managing one or more network elements (40), and an interface (10) between the operations support system (20) and each network element (40). The interface (10) includes a network element side mediator object (14) and a corresponding operations support side proxy mediator object (14p). During initialization of the interface (10), method calls from the proxy mediator object (14p) to the mediator object (14) are employed by the operations support system (20) to obtain a list of data tables supported by the network element (40). The interface (10) also includes a network element side interface object (12) and a corresponding operations support system side proxy interface object (12p). In this case, during initialization of the interface (10), method calls from the proxy interface object (12p) to the interface object (12) are employed by the operations support system (20) to obtain a list of attributes for each data table listed. Preferably, the data tables passed across the interface (10) are carried in one of a finite number of distinct well defined containers, each container carrying data tables having a set of common characteristics. In this manner, a standarized extensible interface (10) is achieved.
A system for monitoring information real-time through a network. The system has a plurality of network elements Each of the network elements comprises an interface device. The plurality of network elements are configured to route a call from a source to a destination through the network elements. A mediator is coupled to each of the network elements. The mediator is adapted to receive events from any one of the network elements as the call as being routed through the elements from the source to the destination. A message bus is coupled to the mediator for receiving the events. The system also has an application process coupled to the messaging bus. The application process is adapted to use the events. The system is fault tolerant and information under process is not lost even when one of the system components fails.
In a communication network managing system, at a network manager, a management section manages QoS (Quality of Service) capability management information from element managers, a request reception section receives a request for a target QoS capability, and a section and notification section selects a candidate subnetwork such as to satisfy the target QoS capability for which the request has been received by the request reception section, and notifies the corresponding element managers of information about the selection. At the individual element manager, based on the selection information from the selection and notification section of the network manager, a control section controls the corresponding subnetwork.
Handling data at one of a plurality of components, wherein the plurality of components includes at least a sink component and a source component. The source component transfers data to the sink component, and the sink component accesses an obtained data type handler object to invoke an interface implemented by the handler object. The invoked type handler interface includes source-specific instructions that are executed by the sink component regardless of whether the data is a format that the sink natively understands.
