Optically active anthracyclinones are prepared by reacting an optically active (-) 1,4-dimethoxy-6-hydroxy-6-acetyl-tetralin with a phthalic anhydride in the presence of AlCl.sub.3 or AlBr.sub.3 and an alkali metal chloride at 130-180.degree. C. for 1 to 10 minutes.
Aglycones of the formula ##STR1## and Toslyhydrazones of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and Ts have meanings described in the specification, and process for preparing a compound of formula (V).
Covers a new composition of matter comprising an acrylamide or methacrylamide monomer characterized by the following structural formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sub.4 is a primary or secondary alkyl group or an alkaryl group, each group containing 6-25 carbon atoms, and n is an integer ranging from 2 to 30.
The present invention relates to a fluidizing agent which is a substituted ammonium salt of an N,N'-disubstituted diaminostilbene sulphonic acid wherein there is at least one organic radical containing at least 2 carbon atoms attached to the nitrogen atom of the substituted ammonium ion. The agent is useful for improving the fluidity of a dispersion of a polycyclic vat dye pigment in an organic liquid.
New arylaminoanthraquinones of the formula ##STR1## in which one X denotes an aryloxy or arylmercapto group, the other X denote hydrogen atoms, one Y denotes a nitro group and the other Y denotes a hydrogen atom and W denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl, methoxy or trifluoromethyl group which are suitable for dyeing high-molecular organic compounds, especially for the bulk dyeing of linear polyesters.
High yields of tetrahydroanthraquinones are obtained by oxidizing a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same or different and can be an alkyl group having one to eight carbon atoms or hydrogen. The reaction product thus produced is useful in the anthraquinone process for producing hydrogen peroxide.
Benzanthrone is produced by reacting a hydroanthraquinone having 1,4-dihydro ring with acrolein or an acrolein precursor in the presence of a dehydration catalyst.
Polymeric anthraquinone derived colorants having improved light and alkali fastness properties represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, OH, a halogen, NH.sub.2, NO.sub.2 and ##STR2## R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are members selected from the group consisting of H and OH, R.sub.4 is an alkyl moiety containing at least 1 carbon atom, said polymeric constituent is a member of the group consisting of polyalkylene oxides and copolymers thereof i...
Dyes of the formula ##STR1## where Y is alkyl of 3 to 18 carbon atoms or phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, bromine, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxycarbonyl (where alkoxy is of 1 to 4 carbon atoms), phenoxy, benzoylamino, trifluoromethyl or alkylcarbonyl (where alkyl is of 1 to 6 carbon atoms), X is hydrogen or ##STR2## where R is alkyl of 1 to 17 carbon atoms, phenylamino, phenyl, alkoxycarbonyl-alkyl (where alkoxy is of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and alkyl of 2 to 4 carbo...
This invention relates to the preparation of clear, bright oil-soluble aluminum-containing compositions of high aluminum content; to the resulting products; and to the use of such products; for example, as fuel additives such as additives employed in turbine fuels as corrosion inhibitors and other uses.
