A medical ventilator system and method that triggers, cycles, or both based on patient effort, which is determined from cross-correlating patient flow and patient pressure. The medical ventilator is also controlled such that sensitivity to a patient initiated trigger increases as the expiratory phase of the breathing cycle progresses. The present invention also provides adaptive adjustment of cycling criteria to optimize the cycling operation.
The object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and method for forming a deposited film which can repeatedly form a large amount of functional deposited films with good reproducibility without degradation in the characteristics of films formed even when gas leakage occurs in a shut-off valve, and without reducing the yield as a result when gas leakage occurs in the shut-off valve, by immediately detecting and repairing it. The deposited film forming apparatus according to the pres...
The present invention relates to novel human secreted proteins and isolated nucleic acids containing the coding regions of the genes encoding such proteins. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant methods for producing human secreted proteins. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating disorders related to these novel human secreted proteins.
An apparatus for fixing an eletrode of an electrode of plama polymerization apparatus is provided, which comprises; a nonconductive holder for fixing an electrode by covering an end part of the electrode, a leadline connecting the electrode with a power supply, and a fixing part fixing the holder on a chamber wall.
An artificial airway device for use in unconscious patients comprises a laryngo-pharyngeal mask including an expandable masking ring. The expandable mask sealingly surrounds the laryngeal inlet when expanded to obstruct communication between the laryngeal inlet and oesophagus. One or more airway tubes connected to the mask provide for fluid flow to a portion of the mask facing the laryngeal inlet when said mask sealingly surrounds the laryngeal inlet. A gastro-tube connected to the mask provides...
Compositions are provided that comprise antibody against coreceptors for human immunodeficiency virus such as CCR5 and CXCR4. In particular, monoclonal human antibodies against human CCR5 are provided that bind to CCR5 with high affinity and are capable of inhibiting HIV infection at low concentrations. The antibodies can be used as prophylactics or therapeutics to prevent and treat HIV infection, for screening drugs, and for diagnosing diseases or conditions associated with interactions with HI...
Humanized anti-IL-8 monoclonal antibodies and variants thereof are described for use in diagnostic applications and in the treatment of inflammatory disorders. Also described is a conjugate formed by an antibody fragment covalently attached to a non-proteinaceous polymer, wherein the apparent size of the conjugate is at least about 500 kD. The conjugate exhibits substantially improved half-life, mean residence time, and/or clearance rate in circulation as compared to the underivatized parental a...
A process for producing microcrystalline cellulose comprised of the steps of contacting a paper grade pulp with an alkali hydrolysis agent, washing the hydrolyzed pulp and contacting the hydrolyzed pulp with an acid hydrolysis agent and washing the acid hydrolyzed product.
A memory cell array is physically divided into an even number of sectors, with each pair of sectors sharing read circuitry. The outputs of the shared read circuitry are commonly connected to form data lines spanning the height of the array, which are input to global sense amplifiers. A two-stage sensing scheme is employed, with first stage and global sense amplifiers. The driving capability of the first stage sense amplifier can be used to decrease the time to charge or discharge the data lines,...
A semiconductor memory device includes a memory cell unit with a plurality of electrically rewritable memory cells connected in series, two ends thereof being coupled to a data transfer line and a reference potential line via select transistors, respectively, wherein the device has a data read mode defined as to detect a read current flowing between the data transfer line and the reference potential line, and judge data of a selected memory cell in the memory cell unit under the condition of: ap...
