A method for constructing an elastomeric composite ply comprises using parallel S and Z twisted cords to reinforce an elastomeric matrix. The S and Z cords are made inexpensively by using a yarn twist that is less than the cord twist. Composite plies made by the method can be used in elastomeric articles such as tires.
This invention is directed to a reinforced adhesive fiber that includes a pressure sensitive adhesive component and a reinforcing material within the pressure sensitive adhesive component.
An article of furniture is made from elongated polymer filaments. The polymer filaments may be monofilaments or plural filaments, which are twisted together and woven with polymer strands of non-twisted yarn to form a woven portion of material. The woven portion can be used to form the seat or back rest of a seating article of furniture for indoor or outdoor use.
Fabrics containing melamine fibers are rendered more comfortable by carding the melamine fibers under vacuum so as to exhibit a narrower fiber diameter distribution (.delta..sub.d) and/or a narrower staple length distribution (.delta..sub.1) as compared to melamine fibers which are carded in the absence of vacuum. In addition, more comfortable melamine fiber-containing yarns are produced by spinning the staple fiber at a lower twist multiplier (TM) as compared to conventional melamine fiber yarn...
A process for preparing poly(trimethylene terephthalate) fibers including (a) providing a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) composition comprising about 0.05 to about 10 weight % ionomer and (b) spinning the polymer composition to form fibers. In addition, a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) fiber including poly(trimethylene terephthalate) with about 0.1 to about 10 weight % ionomer dispersed throughout the poly(trimethylene terephthalate), and use thereof in yarns, fabrics, and carpets, as well a...
A device for crimping synthetic bundles or slivers of yarns, the device has a stuffing box provided with an inlet for a yarn bundle or sliver and including a movable press plate and a stationary counter plate opposite to the press plate, two axially parallel rollers disposed at the inlet for the yarn bundle or sliver and forming a gap through which the yarn bundle or sliver enters the stuffing box, a pivot arm pivotally mounted on a stationary pivot bearing, one of the two axially parallel rolle...
In a texturing system with a texturing nozzle and a first drum (22) connected thereto and a further drum (23), a thread is guided on the outlet side of a texturing nozzle (10) at the circumference of a drum (22) in the form of a strip (1') by friction and at least in part in positive manner, so that the longitudinal speed of the strip (1) at the circumference of the drum (22) corresponds with the circumferential speed of the drum in the area of the guide (220), whereby, by means of a pressure di...
A method of and an apparatus for making twisted electrical cable, such as 600 volt secondary distribution cable, and the twisted cable product are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a first plurality of stationary payoff reels each wound with a length of bare wire conductor. The conductors are simultaneously payed off the reels to a pay out accumulator for accumulating a portion of the conductors during replacement of spent pay out reels. At least one extrusion process arranged downstream of the...
A nozzle for the treatment of threads is divided in the conveying direction into a conveying part, a compression section and a guiding part. The compression section, for the purpose of forming a yarn plug, includes fixedly arranged radially and axially directed lamellar. The ends of the lamellar which face the guiding part are neither in contact with each other nor with any surrounding parts of the nozzle so that fibers which are located in the gaps between the lamellar, and which radially exit ...
A yarn is provided which includes a core formed of a glass material and a wrapping yarn wound about the core. The core has a roughened surface, which tends to engage and hold the wrapping yarn. The yarn may exhibit excellent strength, cut resistance and heat resistance, while providing a smooth finish. A method of making the yarn includes roughening the surface of the glass filament by various means.
