This invention involves the process of preparing a water-in-oil emulsion, where the water is added to the other ingredients in solid form or at a temperature less than 105.degree.F. The emulsion contains a wax, a mixture of organopolysiolxanes, a solvent, an oil soluble emulsifier and water. The composition produced by the disclosed process is also related to the invention.
An aqueous floor-care, self-shine emulsion composition having a pH of 5 to 9 containing a natural or synthetic wax and an alcohol selected from benzyl alcohol, 2-phenylethanol, 2-phenoxyethanol and mixtures thereof.
A process for the preparation of a maleated polyethylene wax is disclosed. This process entails mixing in the melt phase polyethylene, maleic anhydride, free radical initiator and a chain transfer agent m-di-isopropylbenzene. This process can be a continuous process either in a stirred reactor or twin screw extruder. The resulting maleated polyethylene wax has a high acid number, essentially no objectionable odor, and a Gardner color number less than 3.
The present invention provides a wax emulsion having thixotropic properties comprising a wax; an emulsifier, and a naphthenic oil.
The glazing agent contains at least one member selected from a group consisting of a petroleum solvent, silicone oil and wax and at least one member selected from a group consisting of a lower alcohol, oil-soluble ionic surfactant and silicone resin. The glazing agent is excellent in detergency of a stain, or lime deposit, particularly on a coating surface of the vehicle body, as well as in water repelency and its continuity.
A wax polish comprises a wax, e.g. beeswax, turpentine and/or white spirit, and alum. The polish may also comprise a vegetable or mineral oil, acetic acid, resin and/or blue stone.
Aqueous dispersions of ethylene copolymer waxes, which dispersions are free-flowing at room temperature, contain a mixture of an ethylene copolymer wax having a high acid number and an ehtylene copolymer wax having a low acid number. The novel mixtures are particularly suitable as surface preservatives, as components in floor care agents or as sizes in textile finishing.
The invention comprehends a silicone emulsion composition containing a nonionic polydimethyl siloxane emulsion, a cationic amodimethicone emulsion, and a cationic aminofunctional silicone emulsion. When the silicone composition is sprayed onto a painted metal surface and wiped with an absorbent cloth, a protective, high-gloss, substantive protective layer of silicone is deposited on the surface.
A tarnish remover/metal polish formulation comprising water, an acid, and metal iodide, such as potassium iodide, is described. The components of the formulation chemically react with the tarnish or stain on a metal surface, removing the tarnish or stain while leaving the metal unaffected. The tarnish remover/metal polish can be applied as a dip-rinse or as a polish. The composition is easily applied and easily removed.
This invention relates to a furniture polish comprising a paraffin wax and a microcrystalline wax, preferably in combination wit beeswax and a silicon oil. An organic solvent and water are present, and there may additionally be a surfactant and, in aerosol can applications, a propellant. The polish gives good gloss without tendency to smearing and good resistance to water damage.
