Lightning-arrester resistance material is composed of silicon carbide particles and a binder therefor composed of cordierite formed of a fired mixture of cordierite-forming glass material and cordierite-forming crystalline material.
The glazing agent contains at least one member selected from a group consisting of a petroleum solvent, silicone oil and wax and at least one member selected from a group consisting of a lower alcohol, oil-soluble ionic surfactant and silicone resin. The glazing agent is excellent in detergency of a stain, or lime deposit, particularly on a coating surface of the vehicle body, as well as in water repelency and its continuity.
A polish is provided for cleaning metallic and fiberglass surfaces, such as an automobile, truck and boat bodies, and for providing a protective film on the surface. The polish comprises water in an amount between about 40.0 to about 75.0 percent, a solvent in an amount between about 12.0 to about 35.0 percent, a rheological additive in an amount between about 0.30 to about 1.0 percent, an ultraviolet absorber in an amount between about 0.05 to about 0.50 percent, a dye in an amount between abou...
The invention comprehends a silicone emulsion composition containing a nonionic polydimethyl siloxane emulsion, a cationic amodimethicone emulsion, and a cationic aminofunctional silicone emulsion. When the silicone composition is sprayed onto a painted metal surface and wiped with an absorbent cloth, a protective, high-gloss, substantive protective layer of silicone is deposited on the surface.
Disclosed herein is a method for reducing the color of an emulsion of functionalized polyolefin wax by treating an emulsion with a water soluble oxidizing agent at a temperature above the freezing point and below the boiling point of the emulsion and below the softening point of the wax. Disclosed herein, also, is the essentially colorless emulsion produced according to the disclosed method which is useful as an additive to floor polishes and other coating products.
A wax-free silicone containing furniture polish is prepared using 1) a low viscosity silicone fluid and a silicone gum; or 2) a low visosity silicone fluid and a polydiorganosiloxane; or 3) a low visocity silicone fluid, a silicone gum, and a polydiorganosiloxane together with water and one or more suitable surfactants.
A tarnish remover/metal polish formulation comprising water, an acid, and metal iodide, such as potassium iodide, is described. The components of the formulation chemically react with the tarnish or stain on a metal surface, removing the tarnish or stain while leaving the metal unaffected. The tarnish remover/metal polish can be applied as a dip-rinse or as a polish. The composition is easily applied and easily removed.
A furniture polish comprising a mineral oil, a silicone polish, and a bittering agent may be prepared. Such a composition may be made suitable for dispensing as a spray or mist by means of a non-pressurized spray apparatus by the addition thereto of a shear-thinning thixotropic thickener.
Polishes are made detergent resistant by incorporating therein carboxyfunctional siloxanes.
Disclosed are emulsion polish compositions comprising a copolymeric siloxane selected from the group consisting of a poly(dimethyl)-co-poly(methylalkyl) siloxane polymer, a poly(dimethyl)-co-poly(methyl, oxygen-containing) siloxane polymer, and combinations thereof. The poly(dimethyl)-co-poly(methylalkyl) siloxane copolymer has the formula ##STR1## wherein "A" is an alkyl radical having 10-20 carbon atoms, and wherein "w" is 70-91 mole percent and "x" is 9-30 mole percent. The poly(dimethyl)-co-...
