A process for reducing the particle size of porous organic polymers by subjecting an aqueous slurry of the porous organic polymers to a cutting action and recovering particles of reduced mean particle size. The particles produced by the process can be used as additives for lead acid batteries and as a starting material for the production of additives having functional release agents.
A process for conditioning organic pigments by grinding them in water in the presence of a grinding assistant, which comprises using as the grinding assistant an unsubstituted or phenyl-substituted aliphatic or cycloaliphatic 1,2-dihydroxy compound having 6 to 30 C atoms. The process gives pigments which have good dispersing properties in high molecular weight organic material.
The efficiency of grinding of silica-containing solids such as mineral ores is improved by the addition of alkanol amines as a grinding aid. Examples of useful amines include diethanol amine, ethanol amine, triethanol amine and mixtures thereof.
Chemically aided milling of ceramic powders is disclosed. Carrier suspension, usually aqueous, of the ceramic powder may have added to it a dispersing agent and a passivating agent, followed by milling the aqueous suspension while continuously monitoring the pH, and as necessary, adding acid or a base to keep the pH within a desired range during milling. Real time monitoring allows milling with lower energy consumption, and enhances the desirable particle surfaces of the ceramic powder. The pass...
A process of beneficiation of a dry flue gas desulfurization end product into separate dry particle streams dependant upon particle size, density, or shape. Further refinement of the dry end product is accomplished by initially comminuting the end product prior to classification by size, density, or shape.
A hinge with adjusting devices has a hinge arm with a U-profile that can be secured to a base plate by an intermediate piece, and is connected to a hinge cup by articulated hinge links. The base plate has a mounting plane for abutting a furniture side wall in a mounted position. The position of the hinge arm is adjustable with respect to the base plate in a plane perpendicular to the mounting plane by means of an adjustment screw. Guides are provided for guiding the hinge arm in a direction of t...
Method for forming a fluid, concentrated, aqueous suspension of calcined clay which is stable without adding a colloidal thickening agent. A suspension of the calcined kaolin clay containing a minimal amount of a clay deflocculating agent is subjected to wet-milling during which increments of calcined kaolin clay are added until a fluid concentrated suspension of desired high solids content is produced.
In the manufacture of a carbide-based desulfurizing reagent wherein large agglomerations of material are milled into fine particles, an organic, polar liquid is added to said reagent before or during said milling.
A method for the production of natural and/or synthetic carbonates, and more particularly calcium carbonates, with a high BET/N.sub.2 specific surface area of over 20 m.sup.2 /g, and more particularly of between 20 to 50 m.sup.2 /g, utilizes an inherently known mill such as an agitating ball mill. The carbonates in an aqueous suspension are wet ground and the entire suspension is recirculated; that is, subjected to additional wet grinding, until the final product has the desired specific surface...
A method for reducing the relative viscosity of a phosphate rock slurry during a grinding process in a phosphoric acid production facility is described. The method includes the steps of adding an effective amount of a sulfonated acrylamide or acrylic acid polymer having a molecular weight of from 500 to 100,000 and being selected from the group consisting of sulfonated polymers of acrylic acid/acrylamide copolymers and the copolymerization products of acrylic acid, acrylamide and 2-acrylamido-2-...
