Preferred embodiments of the invention disclosed herein include a method of operating an automatic computing system to condition signals, for example to reduce transients and other noise, and apparatus for carrying out the method. The method includes detecting successive changes in a signal in one direction, limiting the changes to small amounts initially, and increasing the change limit permitted in response to sustained successive changes in the same direction.
An apparatus and methods for improving the ability of a detection system to distinguish between a "true attack" as opposed to a nominal increase in a monitored environmental characteristic.
Determining a property of a measured peak pattern having at least one peak includes extracting measured peak parameters from the measured peak pattern, and determining deviations of the measured peak parameters from reference values of a reference peak pattern. The reference peak pattern is represented by a spring model, with peak parameters being represented by corresponding springs. Determining a property of a measured peak pattern also includes determining a deformation energy necessary for d...
The present invention provides methods, a computer-readable medium, a software system, a system, a testing system and an article of manufacture for tracking information received by a user from a network wherein the information includes at least some dynamic information. One embodiment of the method includes the steps of parsing the information received into static information, if present, and dynamic information and validating the static information, if present, and the dynamic information.
An apparatus is disclosed for measuring, calculating, recording and monitoring significant system parameters for a local communication network of the type used in industrial automation applications. The apparatus is disclosed in the context of a network employing the DeviceNet protocol.
The invention provides methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for correcting outlier values in a series of values representing a predetermined numerical parameter over time. For predetermined time interval with a beginning (b) and end (e) point of the time series, an ex-post forecast time series (s_ep) is calculated using the historical time series (s_h) and a predetermined model function (f). Lower and upper tolerance limit lines are defined using (s_ep) and on a quality fu...
Periodic digital signal samples of redundant sensed engine RPM signals are rejected for limit exceedance of known performance values, the nonrejected digital signal samples are each compared with a synthesized RPM equivalent signal to further reject any sample which differs from the synthesized value by more than a selected difference value, one of the nonrejected samples are then used for the engine RPM indication, and in the event that both samples are rejected the synthesized value is used.
A device and method is provided for automatically validating test measurements of an optical entity in an optical transmission network. The method includes creating an object in a database that includes a test variable. In addition, a limit relating to the test variable value is included. The method further includes comparing the test variable value against the limit and indicating if the test variable violates the limit. The device includes a computer memory containing data that relates to perf...
An apparatus for feedback adjusting the working condition of a working machine on the basis of measured dimensions of processed workpieces, including a determining device for determining automatic and manual compensating values, and an applying device for applying the automatic and manual compensating values (Ui, U') to a machine controller for adjusting the machine working condition. The determining device determines the automatic compensating value on the basis of first or second estimated dim...
A method for removing noise from data in an electronic compass system which discounts noise values or outliers (extreme headings far from average) by displaying median headings in the absence of a clear trend in the direction of change of sampled headings. If a clear trend is detected, extreme headings are displayed. Compass jitter is reduced by requiring two consecutive differences be on the same side of the displayed heading before the displayed heading is changed.
