An improved withdrawal means for removing spent adsorbent from the adsorber beds of a filter apparatus is disclosed comprising a fixed tube and a rotatable tube positioned concentrically and having a different pattern of slots through each so that a different portion of the slots in each come into an aligned relationship as the rotatable tube is rotated so that spent adsorbent can be pneumatically removed from zones where the slots are aligned. This withdrawal means allows the external selection...
Apparatus for raising fish, such as rainbow trout, in a controlled environment is disclosed comprising a main fish tank equipped with means for providing laminar water flow through the tank and also equipped with sweeper means for removing particulate matter from the bottom of the tank.
In the cryogenic processing of a gaseous stream, the level of a first contaminant is adjusted, such as by recycling first contaminant already removed or by adding first contaminant, to maintain the total concentration of first contaminant in the gaseous stream at a level sufficient to dissolve the total amount of a second contaminant which would otherwise freeze-out, whereby the likelihood of freeze-out of the second contaminant is substantially reduced during cooling of the gaseous stream to cr...
Relatively fine materials are separated from bulky materials by a two-tier screen assembly mounted on springs and shaken by an off balance drive. The screen assembly spans the space between two parallel plates which are joined by staggered crossbeams. An upper screen is supported by longitudinal bars which rest across upper crossbeams, and two lower screens rest on lower crossbeams. The crossbeams are joined by a longitudinal center plate. In use, the forces of heavy weights tending to bend a gi...
An anti-backlash nut is disclosed of the type which undergoes translational movement along a screw in response to relative rotational movement between the nut and screw. This anti-backlash nut has oppositely-directed longitudinal flexure members radially biased towards the screw to provide equal drag torque and minimum relative deflection for travel of the nut in either direction.
In a catalytic recombiner system a stoichiometric mixture of oxygen and hydrogen are carried by a nitrogen stream through a catalytic converter. The stoichiometric mix is maintained by introducing oxygen into the stream under control of logic circuitry. The logic circuitry responds to the hydrogen level in an inlet stream and to oxygen levels before and after the catalytic converter.
The production yield and reliability of random access integrated circuit memory chips are greatly increased by providing a memory capacity greater than the nominal capacity of the chip and providing error correction circuitry on the chip. The internal organization of the memory chip must be on a multibit word basis to provide for storage of data and error correction bits. If the external organization of the chips is for input and output of fewer data bits than used by the error correction code, ...
A method of eliminating solids formation in a cryogenic distillative separation of acid gases from methane is disclosed. This method comprises adding a solids-preventing agent to the solids potential zone of the distillation column. Typical solids-preventing agents are one or more C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkanes, or other nonpolar liquids which are miscible with methane at the column conditions. The elimination of solids formation permits a more complete separation to be achieved.
A storage battery is constructed with a casing in which is contained an electrolyte and positive and negative plate means. The positive plate means includes a grid structure having a top bar and depending spines, active material, and braided or woven tubular bodies for locating the active material around the spines. A molded thermoplastic bonding element and a thermoplastic bonding material are combined in the positive plate in fused relationship to one another. The bonding element and the bondi...
A portable loam screening apparatus includes a nearly-square, sloping shaker screen supported by a box-like frame. The frame has a tall end and a short end joined by two sides. Funneling surfaces directed toward the screen are provided along the upper edges of the tall end and the sides. A mixture of coarse material and finer material is dumped onto the shaker screen from the shovel of an excavating vehicle. The coarse material falls from the lower end of the shaker screen outside of the frame, ...
