The present invention discloses peptide aldehydes which are potent and specific inhibitors of thrombin, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, pharmaceutically acceptable compositions thereof, and methods of using them as therapeutic agents for disease states in mammals characterized by abnormal thrombosis.
Graft copolymers of vinyl monomers and unsaturated polyols are described. These copolymers are prepared by the polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, or a mixture of such monomers, in a polyol comprising an alkenyl aryl polyol. The alkenyl aryl constituents render the polyols compatible for graft copolymerization with the vinyl monomers. The graft copolymers are useful in polyurethane formulations.
An N-substituted amine is produced by reacting an alcohol or aldehyde with ammonia, a primary amine or a secondary amine in the presence of a catalyst comprising: (a) (1) copper, (2) a metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, manganese, iron and zinc and (3) a metal of the platinum VIII group; (b) (1) copper, (2) cobalt and (3) a metal of the platinum VIII group; (c) (1) copper, (2) a metal selected from the group consisting of chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel and zinc, (3)...
This invention relates to a mixture which is stable in storage in the absence of moisture and comprises the following: (a) polyurethane prepolymers containing incorporated tertiary nitrogen atoms, structural units corresponding to the following formula: and terminal isocyanate groups, (b) aromatic or aliphatic orthophosphoric acid esters; (c) one or more inert solvents, and (d) optionally other auxiliaries and additives, and to the use of these mixtures as adhesives or coatings for flexible or r...
The present invention relates to the field of photochromic material, in particular of photochromic compounds and matrices suitable for use in optical memory systems, including three dimensional optical memory systems for computers, multimedia applications and the like. The photochromic compounds have the following formula: ##STR1## wherein the substituents are defined in the specification.
Heterogeneous vapor phase oxidation and other reactions are carried out at the surface of a solid catalyst, with both gaseous reactants and the solid catalyst being dispersed in a recirculating liquid solvent. Reaction and product absorption are combined into a single processing step, with enhanced catalyst performance, and product selectivity and product yields, enhanced mass and heat transfer characteristics and reduced risk of forming explosive mixtures in the course of a particular reaction.
The invention relates to novel compounds of the formula I in which the general symbols are as defined in claim 1, as stabilizers for organic materials against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation.
A method and apparatus for treating a surface on a glass article with a fluid. The article is surrounded by a containment system for the treating fluid and the fluid is continuously agitated by an agitator.
The present invention provides a method for treating a lipid body-mediated condition, such as inflammation or cancer, in an vertebrate by administering to the vertebrate a sufficient amount of an agent which inhibits the formation of lipid bodies in cells involved in inflammation. The agent can inhibit lipid body formation by inhibiting any biological activity necessary for lipid body formation. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method or assay for assessing the ability of a compo...
Pharmaceutical compositions comprising hyaluronic acid, non-steroidal inflammatory drugs, and organic salts of divalent metals, and methods of using these compositions for the inhibition of inflammation and adhesion formation are described.
