This invention pertains to highly filled polymer compositions comprising a low molecular weight ethylene and/or alpha olefin homopolymers and copolymers, or blends therefrom, filled with high concentrations of fillers or additives. Examples of such fillers or additives include fire retardants, talc, ceramic manufacturing agents, color concentrates, crosslinking agents, and blowing agents. Because of the low crystallinity (and therefore high percentage of amorphous phase) and low viscosities of t...
A thermoplastic molding composition comprising polycarbonate resin, at least one impact modifier and highly pure talc is disclosed. The talc is characterized in that it contains Al.sub.2O.sub.3 in an amount of less than 1% relative to the weight of said talc. The composition that features high toughness, good processability and low coefficient of thermal expansion is suitable for the manufacture of exterior parts of vehicles.
Talc is combined with polyurethane to facilitate crystallization of a polyurethane composition, particularly a polyester-based polyurethane composition. The addition of talc can allow for more rapid formation of products by, for example, injection molding, compression molding, extrusion, and film formation techniques.
Polyesters and polyester containers having a reduced coefficient of friction and improved clarity are produced using an antiblock agent comprising a dried talc having from about 20 to about 300 ppm water or a fatty acid tethered talc. The use of these talcs results in polyesters and polyester containers having a coefficient of less than about 1.0 and a clarity with haze values of less than about 4%.
A resin composition for automotive exterior applications, which comprises 50 to 70% by weight of crystalline propylene-ethylene block copolymer, 18 to 25% by weight of elastomeric polymer and 15 to 25% by weight of inorganic filler. The elastomeric polymer is a mixture of a copolymer rubber produced from ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin having 6 or more carbon atoms, an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-nonconjugated polyene random copolymer, and a hydrogenated styrene-conjugated diene block copolymer. This...
The present invention provides a propylene resin composition having an excellent balance between low-temperature impact resistance and rigidity, and which is suitable for automobile interior and exterior trim parts. The resin composition contains the following components A, B, and C: Component A: 50 to 80% by weight of a crystalline propylene-ethylene block copolymer having an ethylene content of 1 to 15% by weight, and a melt flow rate of 10 to 100 g/10 min. Component B: 5 to 40% by weight of a...
A polypropylene resin composition comprising the following components (A), (B), (C) and (D): (A) a crystalline ethylene-propylene block copolymer containing a room-temperature-p-xylene-soluble fraction Ac having an ethylene content of 12-26% by weight and an intrinsic viscosity (measured at 135.degree. C. in decalin) of 6 dl/g or more, (B) a crystalline ethylene-propylene block copolymer containing a room-temperature-p-xylene-soluble fraction Bc having an ethylene content of 27-50% by weight and...
The present invention provides a resin composition high in melting flow, exhibiting good properties, excellent in moldability and shrinkage properties, and hence suitable for automobile exteriors, by including (A) propylene/ethylene block copolymer having a melt flow rate (MFR) of 100 to 200 g/10 min., its propylene homopolymer component having an MFR of 210 to 400 g/10 min. and isotactic pentad fraction of 0.98 or more, and its copolymer portion containing propylene at 65 to 85% by weight; 50 t...
Shrinkable film and articles prepared therefrom which shrink more than 5% when heated to a temperature of 50.degree. C. are disclosed. The shrinkable film is prepared by stretching a polymer film of EPDM or EPM and EVA and talc more than 1.5 times in at least one direction at specified temperatures.
A rubber blend containing (a) 40-100 phr (parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total rubber mass) of at least one halobutyl rubber; (b) 5-70 phr of at least one delaminated talc having a BET surface area according to DIN 66131 of 10-40 m.sup.2/g, an average particle size (D.sub.50) of 4-8 .mu.m, determined by laser diffraction measurement, and a lamellarity index of 3-15; and (c) 10-100 phr of at least one carbon black having a CTAB surface area according to ASTM-D 3765 of 10-25 m...
