The present invention provides a high solids mineral slurry having long term stability and a method for producing the same. Specifically, the present invention provides a talc slurry having a solids content of up to 65% and a stability against sedimentation for up to 100 days. The talc slurry of the present invention comprises a phyllosilicate mineral, a chelating agent and multivalent ions, wherein the slurry has a pH of between about 10.2 and about 11.8.
A classifier rotor mounted for rotation about a rotor axis inside a classification chamber for separating a fines fraction includes a plurality of disks mounted in parallel, spaced-apart relation along the rotor axis and a plurality of classifier blades axially mounted between the disks at the disk periphery. A uniform influx fluid distribution tube disposed between the disks of the classifier rotor is connected to a vacuum source to remove the fines fraction. The uniform influx fluid distributi...
This invention relates generally to crop protection compositions and methods for making and using the compositions. More specifically, the invention relates to crop protection compositions utilizing talc and one or more additives providing for improved aqueous suspension of the talc and methods for making such compositions. The present invention also discloses horticultural substrates coated with a crop protective composition utilizing talc and one or more additives providing for improved aqueou...
The present invention provides a high solids slurry and a method for producing the same. Specifically, the present invention provides a talc slurry having a solids content of at least about 58% and a viscosity of less than about 500 centipoise. The talc slurry of the present invention comprises talc, a salt and a base.
A plenum assembly for use in a data storage device to direct and filter recirculating currents established by high speed rotation of a recording disc. The plenum assembly includes a top plate and a partitioning wall which projects from the top plate to form opposing, longitudinally extending first and second chambers. A first portion of the recirculating currents is directed along the first chamber and a separate, second portion of the recirculating currents is directed along the second chamber....
Processes by which a mixture of two or more discrete particulate materials, each of said materials having a different sliding coefficient of friction, can be separated using methods which take advantage of velocity differences generated by the application of a force to said mixture to create movement of said mixture over a surface as a function of its sliding coefficient of friction. Various apparatus to effect such processes are also disclosed.
Apparatus for the separation of a mixture of discrete particulate solid materials of disparate composition and a system utilizing such apparatus is described in which the material to be processed is caused to slide under the influence of gravity along a straight inclined surface to achieve a substantially uniform velocity and thereafter along an arcuately formed surface where, due to the existence of different coefficients of sliding friction between the mixture fractions, disparate velocities a...
