A chemiluminescent system comprising (1) derivatives of a polycarbonyl compound substituted with at least one nitrogen-containing hetero group and which may have an alkanol or amine substituent, (2) a hydroperoxide compound, (3) a diluent, and (4) a fluorescer, said ingredients in combination producing visible chemiluminescent light and a process of producing such light.
Novel O-oxalylhydroxyl-amine compositions of matter and reactions and to the direct generation of light from chemical energy employing such compositions. By "light" as referred to herein is meant electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths falling between about 350 m.mu. and 800 m.mu.. Disclosed compounds include diphthalimide oxalate, disuccinimido oxalate, and dimaleimido oxalate.
The present invention provides a chemiluminescence enhancer treated to retain favorable dispersibility of fine solid carriers and stably exert a chemiluminescence enhancing action. The invention provides a chemiluminescence enhancer used for signal detection in a solid phase immunoassay using antigen or/and antibody immobilized onto fine solid carriers dispersible in a liquid medium, consisting of a water soluble macromolecular quaternary ammonium salt, a quaternary sulfonium salt or a quaternar...
A chemiluminescence device comprising a first sealed container containing first substance therein which emits light chemically when it mixes with second substance, a hollow protrudent portion protruded from the first sealed container, and second sealed container containing the second substance therein and arranged in the first sealed container. The shape of the hollow protrudent portion can be changed by external force. At least a part of the second sealed container is breakable and arranged in ...
A chemiluminescence device includes a cylindrical, transparent, and flexible container having a hollow and a groove capable of clamping articles in the form of a stick, a pipe, a wire, a line or the like. An ampule is provided in the hollow of the container and has a hollow breakable at a time of breaking the seal thereof. Two liquid substances for chemiluminescence are contained in the hollows of the container and the ampule, respectively, and are capable of performing chemiluminescence when mi...
A chemiluminescence method characterized in that when a 1,2-dioxetane derivative of the formula 1: ##STR00001## wherein each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 which are independent of one another, is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group, or each pair of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, which are independent of each other, may form together a cyclic alkyl group, R.sup.6 is a hydroxyl group, an alkoxyl group, an aralkyloxy group, a group represented by --OS...
An apparatus is described for detecting the presence of a gaseous chemical produced during a chemical-mechanical polishing operation. The apparatus includes a catalytic converter, a reaction chamber and a light sensor. The catalytic converter, heated to about 800.degree. C. converts the chemical to a different chemical product. The reaction chamber produces an excited species; the pressure in the reaction chamber is maintained sufficiently low to substantially avoid collisional deactivation of t...
Novel compounds comprising a C--C double bond substituted at one carbon with two sulfur atom-containing groups are disclosed. The compounds are useful in methods and compositions for generating chemiluminescence rapidly by reaction with a peroxidase enzyme and a peroxide. The chemiluminescence thus produced can be used as a detectable signal in assays for peroxidase enzymes or peroxide-producing enzymes and in assays employing enzyme-labeled specific binding pairs.
Gaseous sample mixture and gaseous reactant mixture are brought together at one edge of a shallow disc-shaped reaction chamber. The exhaust opening of the reaction chamber is located diametrically from the mixture inlet. A light transmitting element forms one wall of the reaction chamber and the reacting gases pass through the reaction chamber in a plane substantially parallel to the light transmitting element.
A device for detecting chemiluminescence from a sample. The device may include a stage for supporting a sample and one or more of the following elements: (1) an optics head, (2) an optical relay structure for transmitting chemiluminescence from the sample to a detector, (3) a drive mechanism, (4) a sensor for detecting proximity of the optical relay structure to the sample, (5) a mask structure for selecting an effective diameter of the optical relay structure, and (6) a baffle for blocking extr...
