An improved process for the polymerization of olefin monomer selected from (a) ethylene, (b) propylene, (c) mixtures of ethylene and propylene and (d) mixtures of (a), (b) or (c) with one or more alpha-olefins in a fluidized bed gas phase reactor, said process comprising passing a gaseous mixture of said olefin monomers(s) through the fluidized bed under effective polymerization conditions to provide a polymer product containing unreacted monomer(s) and a gaseous effluent stream comprising unrea...
A degassing apparatus for use with a polymerisation reactor is disclosed. Slurry from the reactor is discharged into a flask tank (3) in which monomers or dilluent vaporise to form a gas. Filler units (9, 10) are provided at the upper part of the flash tank (3). They may be selectively connected to the flash tank by valves (11, 12). No cyclone etc. is provided between the flash tank and the filter (9, 10) and these particles may then fall back into the flash tank (3). The filters may be separate...
Cavitation takes place in a fluid flow passing through a constriction, such as a reduced bore in a pipe, to release dissolved gases. The gases can be collected and the fluid can flow along a diffuser section to recover pressure. The constriction can be formed by the axial outlet part of a votex valve included in the flow line. Cavitation in the fluid can be regulated by the control fluid supplied to the vortex valve.
An extruder for degassing a thermoplastic plastics material melt comprises at least one screw mounted for rotation in a barrel. The barrel includes a first feed aperture for the introduction of the melt and a degassing port downstream thereof connectable to means for degassing the melt. The at least one screw is mounted on a shaft and has a helical flight. In the region of the port, the flight is replaced by alternating disc members and spacer members mounted on the shaft. The diameter or major ...
An extruder for synthetic material is disclosed which includes an extruder housing provided with at least two worm conveyer shafts, each having one or more helices thereon. An inlet opening is provided in the housing at the extruder input for introducing the synthetic material and a degassing outlet is provided in the housing downstream of the inlet. Intermediately of the material inlet and degassing outlet, distributing members are arranged on the worm shaft peripheries, the distributing member...
A system for degassing fluids, particularly drilling muds, which includes a pump for introducing the gas laden fluid, under pressure, into a closed degassing vessel wherein the gas is disengaged, in a substantially oxygen free atmosphere, from the fluid, the gas and degassed fluids leaving the degassing vessel through a common outlet which is equipped with an exhausting system for discharging the disengaged gas from the system.
In a degassing column with several perforated plates arranged over one another and at a distance from one another in a column housing there is left free, between each plate and the column housing, a gap which is as small as possible and is uniform over the periphery, and the apertures in the plates have a diameter of less than 5 mm. Each plate is penetrated by at least one eccentrically arranged draining shaft, and at least one eccentrically arranged feed shaft ends above each plate. Finally, be...
A degassing tubular device is provided having an inner tube of a porous polymeric resin positioned inside an outer tube of a porous polymeric resin, and having a tube-form body formed from a porous polymeric film interposed between the inner and outer tubes, wherein the porous polymeric film has a mean pore size of 0.2 to 3.0 microns. The inner tube, outer tube and film are preferably all of porous polytetrafluoroethylene.
Apparatus removes bubbles from a sample of a liquid solution in order to use the sample for the measurement of concentration and/or a physical property of the solution. The apparatus includes a closed vessel and a porous partition for dividing the interior thereof into first and second compartments. The first compartment has an inlet and an outlet for passage of the bubbly solution. The solution passes through the first compartment while the sample penetrates the porous partition without accompa...
Viscous liquids are degassed by a centrifuge in an enclosure at reduced pressure. The centrifuge has concentric annuli to provide a zig-zag path for the liquid. The enclosure may be heated.
