A control circuit for a circuit interrupting switch having a non-stored energy operator reduces the time period between a switch command and a change of the switch contacts. The time period is reduced by prearming the mechanical operating linkage after each switch operation. By prearming the mechanical operating linkage, the linkage has less distance to travel and hence the time period between a switch command and a change in the switch contacts is greatly reduced.
A hydraulic power actuator system flow augmentation scheme of the boot-strap type. The scheme consists of a jet pump to augment pump inlet flow with return flow by reducing the pressure in the jet pump below return pressure. A check valve is installed in the augmentation circuit to prevent back-flow during low flow rate conditions. Two load recovery check valves are used to short circuit the actuator during aiding load conditions.
A fast breeder which is formed with a driver core region having an enriched nuclear fuel substance and allowing liquid metal acting as a coolant to pass therethrough and with a blanket region surrounding the periphery of the driver core region. A reactor stopping control rod to be inserted downward into the driver core region has an axially uniform density of boron-10. A reactor power adjusting control to be inserted downward into the driver core region has a lower density of boron-10 in a lower...
A fast valve is disclosed that can close on the order of 7 milliseconds. It is closed by the force of a compressed air spring with the moving parts of the valve designed to be of very light weight and the valve gate being of wedge shaped with O-ring sealed faces to provide sealing contact without metal to metal contact. The combination of the O-ring seal and an air cushion create a soft final movement of the valve closure to prevent the fast air acting valve from having a harsh closing.
A fast breeder has a driver core region enriched with a fissile material and a blanket core region containing mainly a fertile material. The driver core region includes an inner core region and an outer core region surrounding the inner core region. The volume of the inner core region is selected to range between 30 and 70% of the volume of the driver core region. The enhancement of the fissile material in the inner core region ranges between 30 and 80% of the fissile material in the outer core ...
Fast boat which comprises a boat hull having a front stem, a stern, two side walls as well as a bottom plate with a bottom plate surface facing the water, where on the bottom plate surface facing the water on each side respectively one sliding skid is arranged with sliding steps and preferably in the midships plane a keel skid is provided with keel steps, and between the sliding skids at least one aeration channel is formed, the boat hull being preferably equipped with a bow fin, in which the fr...
An improved c-clamp providing for faster operation and the integration of fewer moving parts into the clamp body and consisting of a smooth surfaced plunger, an advanced design in the clamp body, instrumentation for working the clamp using only one hand, and a more versatile contact head on the plunger.
A fast breeder incorporating a core having a driver core region containing an enriched fissile material, an external blanket region surrounding the core region and containing a fertile material and an internal blanket region disposed within the driver core region and containing a fertile material. The internal blanket region has a thickness or axial height greater at the central portion thereof than at the peripheral portion thereof. The peripheral end of the internal blanket region opposes to t...
A fast reactor comprises a reactor vessel to be arranged vertically in a reactor building, a reactor vessel upper structure disposed on an upper portion in the reactor vessel, a drum structure suspended from the reactor vessel structure into a central portion in the reactor vessel so as to define an annular portion between an outer periphery of the drum structure and an inner periphery of the reactor vessel, and a reactor core disposed in the drum structure. A reflector is disposed in the reacto...
A buffer circuit includes an input amplifier connected to receive an input signal and an output amplifier connected provide an output signal. A differential amplifier is connected to also receive the input and output signals and to provide an output related to the difference between the signals to maintain a desired relationship between the input and output signals. The buffer circuit can be configured so that the signal from the differential amplifier is provided either to the input or the outp...
