This invention provides an improved map having the advantages of a book while at the same time providing a simple index system, and pages which are folded to provide a larger format than that normally found in a book. The folded pages are arranged so they cannot be readily damaged by incorrect folding and yet the pages can be inter-related imperfectly without damage and without affecting the index arrangement.
The invention relates to a map on which informative data are printed, said map being provided with folding lines and with map portions located between said folding lines. A central folding line is provided, whereby two further folding lines, extending on either side of the central folding line in the unfolded condition of the map, adjoin said central folding line in each of a plurality of spaced joining points, and whereby further folding lines, which extend from an adjoining point on the centra...
A topographical map display device for a vehicle, such as an aircraft, wherein a map in miniaturized form is carried on a carriage coupled to a frame by way of a mechanism which permits translational planar movement only of the carriage with respect to the frame and an image of an area of the map is projected onto a display surface on which a fixed datum represents the vehicle position, the carriage being moved with respect to the frame by actuator means in dependence on the range and bearing of...
Information display device comprising in combination an illuminated diagram, an indicating table carrying a list of locations on said diagram, and electronic selector means. The selector means comprises a generator assembly adapted to deliver a succession of pulses over at least three output lines and to supply said lines successively, but with over-lapping periods in which two lines are simultaneously supplied. The indicating table is provided with a plurality of illuminable indicators each ass...
This invention relates to body supported printed surfaces in general, and more specifically to a thin, flexible ski area map holder which is easily attached to a skier's limb and provides a safe, convenient view of an appropriate map.
A sheet 20 on which a map is printed is attached to and folded within a matchbook-like cover 11. Sheet 20 is then folded in a first plurality of accordion folds (30-34) from side-to-side to expose a free, unfolded corner (21) for being grasped between the thumb and forefinger. Sheet 20 is then folded in a second plurality of accordion folds (23, 34). The folds are made in such a manner as to maintain the free, unfolded corner (21) in position to be grasped by the thumb and forefinger and pulled ...
An electronic map for selectively displaying routes to various locations in a building such as a shopping mall is disclosed. The map displays a floor plan indicating a plurality of stations (shops, public telephones, washrooms, etc.) and paths connecting the various stations. A particular station can be selected at a keyboard, and a path extending from the location of the map to the selected station is then visually indicated, as with a string of light emitting diodes physically located on the m...
Means to approximately automatically track on a map, the course and position of a vehicle. Motion reducing means connected to the vehicle move a pointer forward at a rate proportional to the speed of the vehicle. The pointer has a degree of freedom for additional motion. A map is positioned beneath the pointer and has a desired route marked with a material to magnetically interact with the pointer so that the pointer always remains in contact with the route and follows it by moving through the a...
A map is mounted on the dashboard of a vehicle such that the image of the map can be viewed on the windshield by a user within the vehicle without removing his eyes from the windshield.
A map holder for automotive vehicles comprising a transparent cover and a bottom plate adapted to receive a map therebetween. A telescopic pointer is slidably and pivotally secured on the bar which is mounted on the bottom plate. This arrangement allows tracing a route and pinpointing the actual location of the vehicle on the map. A non-permanent marker is used to apply a route on the transparent cover. After the desired destination is reached, the marking on the transparent cover is erased by a...
