A highly flexible mica insulating structure is disclosed which comprises one or more mica papers impregnated with about 5 percent to about 25 percent by weight of a flexible polysiloxane resin having about 1 percent to about 4 percent by weight of an alkoxy titanate and about 0.5 percent to about 2 percent by weight of a naphthenate based on polymer solids, said resin binder being partially cured or B-staged. Such mica products have excellent flexibility, structural integrity and improved moistu...
A mica plate delaminator has a delaminating cylindrical chamber with a flat disk mounted on a drive shaft at a 65 degree angle to the shaft. A screw feeder feeds material from a hopper into the delaminating chamber and the disc is rotated at 600-1200 rpm to force the mica back and forth over itself and the clearance between the disc and the housing to a discharge, delaminating the mica plates to small flakes.

A mica capacitor having lead conductors having a strip-like end portion wound on the mica capacitor at each end thereof through a lead-out foil. With this construction, the thickness of the capacitor can be reduced without reducing the strength of attachment of the leads. Also, it is possible to reduce the manufacturing steps and eliminate failure of soldering.

Flakes of micaceous material are delaminated by passing them at increasing speed through a progressively restricted annular space formed by a cylinder and a rotating inner rotor. The finely divided product is useful in making paper.
The present invention relates to a sheet structure for electrical insulation or flame resistance comprising a barrier ply having a mica-rich face and a mica-poor face and a reinforcing ply containing a saturable backing layer attached to the mica-poor face of the barrier ply.
Sedimentary mica flakes are produced having a bulk density of between about five and one-half pounds per cubic feet and eight pounds per cubic feet (5.5-11 lbs/ft.sup.3), a high aspect ratio, and a G.E. brightness between about seventy-five and ninety (75-90). Operations include applying shear forces to delaminate the mica into flakes. Shear forces are applied by rotating a plurality of arcuate blades within a confined chamber containing the mica, such that the mica is forced between an outer po...
A process for concentrating mica in a mixture of sand and mica is disclosed, which comprises introducing the feed mixture of sand and mica into an upper part of a density separating vessel in which is provided a rising current of an aqueous medium, the velocity of the current being uniform or substantially uniform over a horizontal cross-section of the vessel and being such that all but the least buoyant particles of the mixture are held in suspension as a bed which is gently displaced upwards i...
A capacitor capable of resisting extremely high inertial stresses consists of interconnected capacitor sections. Each capacitor section includes a stack of synthetic mica sheets alternating with aluminum foils serving as electrodes, plus outermost terminal electrodes. The latter are formed of copper foils sandwiched between much thinner and softer aluminum foils. The electrode foils and the terminal electrodes are recessed alternately from opposite ends of the stack in marginal areas and extend ...
