Photofinishing apparatus for producing photographic prints from originals such as positive transparencies, negative transparencies or positive reflection prints and for printing a customer bill is controlled by an electronic computer. Some data required for producing prints in the photographic printer is entered into the computer via an operator keyboard. Other data may be entered into the computer via a device that measures the size and format of the original, an exposure determining station, a...
A photofinishing method, including the steps of: exposing machine readable metadata and a scene image within an entire safe frame area on a filmstrip; processing the filmstrip to produce a visible image including the machine readable metadata and the scene image; scanning the safe frame area to produce a digital image; extracting the machine readable metadata from the digital image; extracting the scene image from the digital image; and processing the scene image according to the extracted machi...
A photofinishing system includes film units, a remote look-up table, and photofinishing apparatus. The photofinishing apparatus has a reader to read identifiers on the film units, a communicator to interface with the look-up table to poll the table for photofinishing parameters for the film units, and a processor that generates digital images responsive to the photofinishing parameters. In a method, a film unit containing a plurality of captured images is received. A remote look-up table having ...
A plurality of exposed photographic films of different types, which are contained in respective different type film cartridges, are developed and wound up individually into wind-up cartridges, on which identification data indicating the type of the photographic film wound in each wind-up cartridge is recorded. In printing, the type of each of the different type photographic films is discriminated based on the identification data recorded on the wind-up cartridges, so as to change over printing s...
There is disclosed herein a photoprocessing system for receiving film and processing it into the final prints. The system particularly includes modifications to the film printer for encoding identification numbers onto the roll of prints which can key sets of prints to the respective film. Also, a film advance system is disclosed wherein the film is stopped during the printing process to allow a bar code to be read from each film of a roll of films. Additionally, an automated packaging machine i...
A photofinishing process, of the type operative to produce an elongated strip of print paper having a plurality of photographic images on one side thereof demarcated from one another by spaced indicia used to control the cutting of the strip into individual photographic prints, is modified to include an imprinting operation which successively imprints the nonimage-bearing side of the strip with information in a preselected format. The imprinting operation is conducted prior to the cutting step a...
An improved photofinishing packaging apparatus and related method is described in which a film bar code is read, and identification indicia which may be different from the film bar code is encoded onto the corresponding prints generated from the film. The film bar code is then paired with the identification indicia, which pairing is stored in a computer. Later, the packager uses the pairing to match up the film with the corresponding prints.
A photofinishing system comprising a processor, a printer, means for feeding print media to the printer from a roll of the print media, and slitter means located in series with the printer; the processor being arranged to generate a drive signal that is representative of a photographic image, the printer being coupled to the processor and being arranged to process the drive signal and effect printing of the photographic image on the print media, and the slitter means being arranged to receive pr...
Acrylated cotton fabric is reacted with water-N,N-dimethylformamide solutions of acrylamide and then exposed to near ultraviolet light in an inert atmosphere to produce crosslinked acrylated cotton fabrics with durable press properties. The treatment is also applicable to methacrylated cotton fabric and the results obtained are similar.
Data relating to a customer's order for photofinishing are written on a mark sheet. The mark sheet is optically read in a photo-lab, thereby to record the customer's order data in a transparent magnetic recording layer of the photographic film to be processed. The photographic film is sorted with reference to the data read from the mark sheet and, thereafter, is processed according to the customer's order based on the data read therefrom by an appropriate processing apparatus.
