There is provided a corrosion inhibiting alkoxy silane characterized by an alkyleneamino group attached to silicon through a Si--C linkage, a carbonyl or thiocarbonyl group attached to an amine group and a terminal group which may be saturated or unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic group containing 6 to 20 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated aminoaliphatic or amino cycloaliphatic group containing 6-20 carbon atoms; NHNH.sub.2 ; NH(CH.sub.2).sub.n N(R).sub.2 ; or a ##STR1## group where R...
Disclosed is a method for making silane. A silicon tetrahalide having the general formula SiX.sub.4 is reacted with a compound which can be alcohols to C.sub.4, alkanes to C.sub.4, alkenes to C.sub.4 alkenes to C.sub.4 or a mixture thereof, where X is independently selected from the halogens, to produce a product having the general formula SiR.sub.4, where each R is independently selected from alkoxy to C.sub.4, alkyl to C.sub.4, alkylene to C.sub.4 and alkenyl to C.sub.4. The SiR.sub.4 is then ...
A novel silane compound is disclosed, which is used as a suitable strating material (monomer) of polysilane eligible for the precursor of electroconductive- and photoconductive-materials such as phtoresists as well as polymerization initiators and silicone carbide-based ceramics and which is useful for chemical vapor deposition.
Silane compositions are described which comprise (A) a silane coupling agent; and (B) a tris(silylorgano)amine or alkane characterized by the formulae or wherein each R is independently an alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group of less than 20 carbon atoms; R.sup.1 is a divalent hydrocarbon or polyether group of less than 20 carbon atoms; and R.sup.2 is a functional group represented by wherein n is from 0 to 20 and X is selected from the group consisting of amino, amido, hydroxy,...
Clear stable micellar solutions comprising: (a) a silane represented by the formulae: where X denotes an alkoxy radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an alkoxyalkoxy radical with 2 to 8 carbon atoms, or an alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms; y denotes an acid anion; n is 1, 2 or 3; R denotes a divalent hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R' denotes alkyl radicals with 1 to 22 carbon atoms; saturated hydrocarbon radicals containing nitrogen, or unsaturated hydrocarbon radicals contai...

A silicon halide such as silicon tetrafluoride is reacted with an agitated slurry of an alkali metal hydride such as sodium hydride in a liquid which includes a diaryl ether such as diphenyl ether. At elevated temperatures such as 250.degree.-260.degree. C., complete conversion of the silicon tetrahalide to silane is observed, even with contact times under two seconds.
There is provided a novel class of alkoxy silanes useful as corrosion inhibitors for metal surfaces and characterized by an alkylene group attached to silicon through a Si--C linkage. These compounds also contain nitrogen as an amine or an imine group in a linear or cyclic structure. Sulfur and/or a carbonyl or thiocarbonyl group may also be present. The invention also provides a method of inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces by applying a coating containing or consisting of a novel silane as ...
The invention disclosed in this application is the use of novel silanes in curable coatings to allow tinting or dyeing of the coatings after they are cured on certain substrates. An example of one such useful silane is ##STR1## The silanes and the curable coatings are also useful as antistat and antifog coatings.
