A thrust bearing assembly includes an upper thrust bearing and a lower thrust bearing for use in an engine assembly of a vehicle and which, are preferably, identically configured. The upper and lower thrust bearings each include an arcuate bearing shell with a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface and each may be formed with a pair of axially spaced flanges extending radially outwardly of the bearing shells. The flanges may be formed as one piece with the bearing shell and the thickne...
To provide a thrust fork to arrest a resisting criminal without danger of being stabbed by an edge tool, a thrust fork main body (2) attached to an end of a handle portion (1) is provided with a forked rod (21), movable opening and closing rods (23), which have base end portions respectively pivoted to leading ends of the forked rod and freely swivel only inside the forked rod without outward movement, a returning element (24) to return the opening and closing rods (23) by a spring to an origina...
A thrust roller bearing system comprising an inner rotating member, an outer rotating member and multiple rollers coupling the inner rotating member with outer rotating member. The inner and outer rotating members include thrust lips to enable the rollers to act as thrust rollers. The rollers contact inner and outer rotating members at bearing contact points along a contact line. Consequently, the radial/tilt and thrust forces move synchronously and simultaneously to create a bearing action with...
An integral type thrust bearing is proposed which can be manufactured with fewer heat treatment steps. The retainer and the inner and outer rollers not hardened are assembled together with rollers into a bearing and thereafter the assembled bearing is carburized, hardened and tempered. This eliminates the need for individual heat treatment of the retainer and the inner and outer rings and decreases heat treatment steps for the production of thrust bearings.
A thrust bearing and method of assembling a thrust bearing, the bearing comprising: an outer housing having a substantially circular base, wherein a cylindrical side wall and a central post are upstanding from the base; an outer ball seated on and at least partially within the outer housing; and an inner ball mounted on the central post, wherein the outer ball is sandwiched between the inner ball and the outer housing.
A thrust bearing 11 for use with a shaft 13 having a collar 15 mounted the shaft 13 and rotatable therewith has a base ring 17, a series of shoes 19 positioned on the base ring 17, and a compressible resilient spacing member 29 positioned between the base ring 17 and a housing 31 for the thrust bearing 11. The spacing member 29 supports the thrust bearing 11 when the shaft 13 is rotating during no-load operating conditions, as well as dampens the forces placed on the thrust bearing 11 by the sha...
A two component thrust washer assembly for a vehicle torque converter has a first component made of a durable polyimide material with an annular wear face and three axially projecting pins. The second component is made of metal and has a mating portion with three openings to receive the pins and an area to engage an adjacent element of a torque converter.
The present invention provides an improved thrust bearing for extreme service applications through the use of a novel bearing cage assembly and improved surface design of the external face of the circular inside sidewall of the bearing cage assembly and race components. The novel bearing cage assembly allows for an increase in the quantity and size of the roller elements contained within the bearing cage, compared to others known in the art, which substantially increases the thrust bearings' loa...
In a thrust bearing supporting a load in a thrust direction in a rotary portion, a size of a curved surface in the forward side of a lubricating groove with respect to a relative rotating direction of an opposing sliding member is set to be larger than a size of a curved surface in the rearward side of the lubricating groove with respect to the relative rotating direction, and a depth of the lubricating groove is set to be deeper than a starting point in the side of a groove bottom of the curved...
A gas-lubricated thrust bearing employs relatively rigid inwardly cantilevered spokes carrying a relatively resilient annular member or annulus. This annulus acts as a beam on which are mounted bearing pads. The resilience of the beam mount causes the pads to accept the load and, with proper design, responds to a rotating thrust-transmitting collar by creating a gas film between the pads and the thrust collar. The bearing may be arranged for load equalization thereby avoiding the necessity of gi...
