An optical system for performing a cosine transform on an input RF signal is described. The optical system includes a source for emitting a beam of radiation, and an acoustic-optical modulation device disposed in the path of the beam and functioning to modulate at least two spaced-apart spatial portions of the beam with different signals to produce two modulated beams. A Fourier transfer lens is provided which is disposed in the path of the two modulated beams for combining the two beams, and a ...
A processor capable of performing a two-dimensional transform on high speed serial sampled analog raster scanned data and outputing the results in a parallel fashion so as to provide for a data rate reduction. The processor utilizes a charge coupled device (CCD), a matrix multiplier to perform a one-dimensional transform on data samples from a serial to parallel converter. The data is switched into a set of matrix multipliers which perform another transformation whose results are summed in an ac...
A serial-access linear transform device, suitable for signal processing systems requiring the rapid generation of linear transforms of a spatial or temporal signal, where the transform is in sampled form consisting of a series of N-sample terms, each term consisting of factors, and where the signal consists of a series of N-sample pulses. The transform device includes a time code generator which generates a plurality of pulses, either singly or sequentially, at predetermined intervals of time, a...
A digital computer for rapidly determining the Fourier transform of a real input signal is disclosed. The computer utilizes the symmetries of sinusoidal functions to reduce the computations required to determine the Fourier transform. Simultaneous addition, multiplication and memory accessing are performed by the computer thereby reducing the time normally required to compute a Fourier transform.
An optical data processing system of the coherent spatial filter type which (a) produces enhancement of the contrast of filtered images before they are photographed by providing a controllable optical attenuator in the path of the filtered light, the amount of light permitted to shine through the attenuator being a function of the intensity of the light, and (b) produces a rose diagram by providing a rotatable slit of adjustable length that is rotated in synchronism with the spatial filter, the ...
A single carrier is amplitude-modulated by a signal which is a transform (as the sine function) of the audio signal, and one set of sidebands is removed. In a receiver, the signal can be recovered by first deriving the Hilbert transform of the sine transform, and multiplying it by the signum of the derivative of the original audio signal to obtain the cosine transform. The sine and cosine transforms are then decoded to obtain the original audio signal.
Devices for performing fast Hadamard transforms based upon a predetermined algorithm are provided. A buffer memory (random-access memory) with the capacity equal to the number of components of an input vector to be transformed is provided and is addressed in such a way computation of Hadamard transforms can be performed at faster speeds with a higher degree of efficiency.
A hybrid opto-electronic method and apparatus for Fourier transform measurements of temporal signals are disclosed. The magnitude and phase of the signal transform are system outputs. High resolution spectral analysis operation is accomplished by proper spatial phase corrections, equivalent to aperture synthesis. Configurations for one-dimensional and two-dimensional input data formats are described. The disclosed method and apparatus can process signals with continuous spectral content as well ...
A chirp transform correlator having asynchronous operation is made possible by the use of a pair of paralleled signal processing channels to which the unknown signal to be correlated is applied. The two channels include sweeping local oscillators which are interlaced in timing so that any arbitrarily timed unknown input signal will be fully transformed by one or the other of the channels.
A system for determining the location of poles in the complex s-plane and their residues from empirical data is disclosed. The system utilizes the impulse response or similar data of a specimen and through repeated differentiations of a frequency domain representation of this response locates the frequency of the poles. The results of any two consecutive differentiations are used to determine the location of the poles in the s-plane and their residues.
